ANALOGUES OF VDAC1-DERlVED PEPTIDES
The present invention relates to peptides comprising analogues of VDAC1-derived peptides having improved pharmacokinetic characteristics compared to the native parent peptides, which are effective in impairing cell energy production, in inducing apoptosis and cell death, particularly of cancerous cells, in eliminating cancer stem cells and in reducing symptoms associated with fat accumulation in liver cells particularly with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and symptoms associated thereto

COMPLEX BETWEEN LACTOFERRIN AND SILICA, PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION THEREOF, AND COMPOSITION THEREOF FOR ORAL HYGIENE
Disclosed is a complex including at least one lactoferrin and at least one silica having a specific surface area included between 100 m2/g and 1000 m2/g (BET area, measured according to standard ISO 9277-2010), the complex being obtainable by adding the lactoferrin to the silica in the form of a sol-gel with an aqueous solvent, and subsequent drying of the sol-gel. The complex is particularly suitable for use in oral care products, in particular toothpastes, mouthwashes, gels, chewing gum, tablets for use in oral care, gingival dyes, and the like. The complex features a high level of stability and bio-availability, such that it has an effective, long-lasting antibacterial and antioxidant action within the oral cavity. The complex is particularly suitable for the prevention or treatment of diseases of dental apparatus, in particular for the prevention or treatment of periodontitis or peri-implantitis, preferably in patients suffering from diabetes.

BIFUNCTIONAL BLOOD BRAIN THERAPIES
Disclosed are therapeutic payloads comprising p97 fragments coupled with active agents having blood-brain barrier (BBB) transport activity, including variants and combinations thereof, to facilitate delivery of therapeutic or diagnostic agents across the BBB. The therapeutic payloads have dual functionality that may permit treatment of diseases in a subject other than diseases that present in the brain, e.g., solid tumors in the body. Methods of treating various diseases and pharmaceutical compositions are also disclosed.
Methods for modulating an immune response
The present disclosure provides methods of modulating an immune response in an individual. The present disclosure provides methods of treatment. The present disclosure provides methods comprising administering a multimeric polypeptide (synTac) and an immune checkpoint inhibitor to an individual. The present disclosure provides methods comprising administering a multimeric polypeptide (synTac) to an individual who is undergoing treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitor.

Methods and compositions for enhanced biomass production and increased abiotic stress tolerance
This invention relates to methods for increasing carbon fixation, increasing biomass production and/or increasing abiotic stress tolerance in a plant comprising: introducing into a plant, plant part, and/or plant cell a heterologous polynucleotide encoding a ferredoxin polypeptide and/or a heterologous polynucleotide encoding a biotin ligase polypeptide to produce a stably transformed plant, plant part, and/or plant cell, wherein said heterologous polynucleotides are from a bacterial and/or an archaeal species. Further provided are plants, plant parts and plant cells produced by the methods of the invention.
