Functionalised Compounds
A substantially insoluble compound having a polysaccharide backbone which is derivatised at one or more of its hydroxyl groups with a ligand (L) bound to the sugar moiety by a sulphur atom which may be tailored according to a wide range of applications. The compound is useful as a catalyst and in removal of contaminants from a feed containing particularly metal ions.
Semipermeable membrane
Provided is a semipermeable membrane having a high chlorine resistance. The semipermeable membrane is formed of a cellulose ester, the cellulose ester having an optionally substituted benzoyl group.
Rubber compositions and methods of producing rubber compositions
A rubber composition contains: at least one rubber component selected from the group consisting of an ethylene propylene diene rubber, a chloroprene rubber, a nitrile rubber, and an acrylic rubber; 1.5 to 30 parts by mass of a fluorene-modified cellulose nanofiber per 100 parts by mass of the rubber component; and 30 to 120 parts by mass of a carbon-based filler per 100 parts by mass of the rubber component. A method of producing a rubber composition comprises: kneading a dispersion of a fluorene-modified cellulose nanofiber in a process oil and a rubber component to prepare a kneaded material; and mixing a vulcanizing agent into the kneaded material.
NANOCRYSTALLINE CELLULOSE CONTAINING DENTAL MATERIAL
The present invention relates to a dental material comprising a thermoset methacrylate-based polymer resin and cellulose nanocrystals, wherein the cellulose nanocrystals have been modified to be hydrophobic.

CELLULOSE DERIVATIVE PARTICLES, COSMETIC COMPOSITION, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING CELLULOSE DERIVATIVE PARTICLES
Cellulose derivative particles including an alkoxy group having 2 or more carbons or an acyl group having 3 or more carbons, wherein the cellulose derivative particles have an average particle size of 80 nm or greater and 100 m or less, a sphericity of 70% or greater and 100% or less, and a surface smoothness of 80% or greater and 100% or less; and a total substitution degree of the cellulose derivative is 0.7 or greater and 3 or less.
CELLULOSE DERIVED HYDROPHOBIC, BIO-DEGRADABLE FILMS FOR MULCH & OTHER APPLICATIONS
The present invention describes synthesis and properties of cellulose based biodegradable hydrophobic mulch film for agricultural applications. The invented method can also be used to obtain an highly hydrophobic mulch film. Cellulose, the most abundant natural polymer is chemically modified to make bio-degradable, mulch films that are partially air permeable but water impermeable. The water impermeability can be changed by varying the processing conditions. The film can be multi-functional; that is besides providing the water impermeability the film can also be customized to adjust the pH of soil and to deliver herbicides or fertilizers to the soil. Other lignocellulosic materials or different combinations of synthetic fibers, fabrics or polymers and cellulose materials including newsprint can also be used to make the biodegradable hydrophobic film. Additionally, the invention can be used to make biodegradable extremely hydrophobic self-cleaning products for other hydrophobic applications such as packaging materials or disposable water-proof clothing.
WEARABLE TRIBOELECTRIC GENERATOR FOR ENERGY HARVESTING
The present disclosure relates to a wearable water triboelectric generator, wherein the water triboelectric generator comprises a first substrate having a first surface and a second surface, wherein the first surface and the second surface are opposing to each other; and wherein the first surface comprises a modified hydrophobic surface comprising a coating of hydrophobic cellulose oleoyl ester nanoparticles. There is also provided a wearable dual mode water and contact triboelectric generator comprising said water triboelectric generator and a contact triboelectric generator, wherein the water triboelectric generator and the contact triboelectric generator are arranged such that the first substrate of the water triboelectric generator completely surrounds or encapsulates the contact triboelectric generator.
LINKER COMPOUNDS, METHODS OF PRODUCING THE SAME AND USES THEREOF
The present disclosure provides a bifunctional linker for coupling at least one functional moiety, preferably a bis-allyl propionic acid (BAPA), to a polymer-containing matrix. Also disclosed by the present disclosure are anhydrides of the bifunctional linker, processes for preparing the bifunctional linker and such anhydride, as well as surfaces, such as cellulose containing matrices, coupled with the bifunctional linker, at times, the latter carrying a functional agent.
