SONICATION OF CATALYST IN THE PRODUCTION OF AN ISOOLEFIN HOMOPOLYMER
A process for producing an isoolefin homopolymer comprises: sonicating a solution of an initiator system in an organic solvent, the initiator system comprising a Lewis acid catalyst and a proton source selected from the group consisting of water, an alcohol, a phenol, a thiol, a carboxylic acid or any mixture thereof, to produce a sonicated initiator solution, the sonicating performed at an energy input of 100 J/mL or greater, based on volume of the initiator solution; and then, contacting the sonicated initiator solution with a reaction mixture of an isoolefin monomer in an organic diluent to produce the isoolefin homopolymer.
Grafting method for rice straw fiber modification
The present invention relates to the field of reutilization of biomass resources, and more particularly relates to a grafting method for rice straw fiber modification. The pulverized and pretreated straw powder is first reacted with diisocyanate under ultrasonic and microwave treatment, and the resulting product is reacted with PEG to obtain the PEG grafted straw fiber polymer compound. Grafting PEG onto the straw fiber through the bridging of the diisocyanate improves the thermoplasticity of the modified rice straw fiber. The modified straw fiber of the present invention can be hot-pressed to form self-reinforced composite materials without adding additional materials, which overcomes the waste and pollution problem of traditional straw reutilization method, achieving the goal of whole straw utilization.

A process for preparing water-soluble homo- or copolymers comprising (meth)acrylamide by free-radical polymerization of an aqueous solution of monoethylenically unsaturated monomers comprising at least (meth)acrylamide in the presence of at least one stabilizer for prevention of polymer degradation by molecular oxygen. The stabilizer is preferably one selected from the group of sulfur compounds, sterically hindered amines, N-oxides, nitroso compounds, aromatic hydroxyl compounds and ketones, more preferably 2-mercaptobenzothiazole or a salt thereof.
