Adhesive composition
An adhesive composition having excellent adhesiveness to a cycloolefin resin or the like. The adhesive composition of the present invention includes a polymer having a repeating unit derived from a polymerizable compound represented by formula (I): YN(Ar)(R) Formula (I), in which Ar represents an unsubstituted or substituted C6 to C14 aryl group or an unsubstituted or substituted C6 to C10 aryl C1 to C3 alkyl group; R represents an unsubstituted or substituted C1 to C6 alkyl group, an unsubstituted or substituted C3 to C6 cycloalkyl group, an unsubstituted or substituted C6 to C14 aryl group, or an unsubstituted or substituted C6 to C10 aryl C1 to C3 alkyl group; and Y represents a polymerizable functional group. In Formula (I), a substituent on Ar and a substituent on R can bond to form a divalent organic group.

In at least one specific embodiment, the binder composition can include at least one unsaturated compound having two or more unsaturated carbon-carbon bonds and at least one free radical precursor. At least one of the unsaturated carbon-carbon bonds can be a pi-bond that is not conjugated with an aromatic moiety and can be capable of free radical addition. The free radical precursor can be present in an amount of about 7 wt % to about 99 wt %, based on the weight of the one or more unsaturated compounds.

A method of making paper comprising adding to an aqueous suspension of cellulosic pulp slurry a polymer in the form of an inverse emulsion comprising a cationic poly N,N-(dialkylaminoalkyl) (meth)acrylamide or it's quaternates or salts, and dewatering the cellulose pulp slurry to form a paper or paperboard product, wherein the pulp slurry contains more than about 75 weight ppm of water soluble lignin based upon total pulp slurry weight, and wherein the polymer is added to the pulp slurry at a dosage of 0.001 to 1% by weight based upon cellulose pulp solids, and wherein the polymer optionally contains multi-functional monomer.

The method can include performing an aminolysis reaction between the plant oil compound and a hydroxyl-containing amine compound to form a functionalized plant oil compound having an amide bond; and functionalizing the hydroxyl group to have a polyerizable vinyl group or a norbornene group to form a polyerizable plant oil compound having the amide bond and an ester bond.
