AQUEOUS COPOLYMER DISPERSIONS AND THEIR USE IN COATING COMPOSITIONS
An aqueous copolymer dispersion is obtained by a multi-stage emulsion polymerization process comprising polymerizing in a reaction zone in a first polymerization stage a first monomer composition comprising at least 88 wt % of a viny I ester of a C.sub.1 to C.sub.18 carboxylic acid and up to 12 wt % ethylene to produce a first stage polymer having T.sub.g>20? C.; and polymerizing in the reaction zone, in a second polymerization stage and in the presence of the first stage polymer, a second monomer composition comprising a vinyl ester of a C.sub.1 to C.sub.18 carboxylic acid and a C.sub.2 to C.sub.8 alkyl ester of (meth)acrylic acid to produce a second stage polymer having T.sub.g?20? C. Each of the polymerization stages is conducted in the presence of a stabilizing system comprising at least 0.1 wt % of a protective colloid and at least 0.05 wt % of an ionic surfactant.

Water repellent oil repellent agent for fibers and fiber product
A water- and oil-repellent agent for fibers containing a bottle brush polymer having a structure represented by the following formula (1), wherein R.sup.1 is H or CH.sub.3; R.sup.2 is a divalent organic group; R.sup.3 is a polymer chain having a structure represented by the following formula (2) (wherein R.sup.4 is H or CH.sub.3; R.sup.5 is a C16-C40 monovalent hydrocarbon group; and n is an integer of 10 to 1000); and m is an integer of 10 to 5000: ##STR00001##
MULTI-STAGE COPOLYMERS AS BINDER FOR COATING AGENTS
A process for preparing multistage copolymers in the form of aqueous dispersions by multistage, radically initiated emulsion polymerization includes a first stage, second stage, and third stage. In the first stage, 20% to 75% by weight of vinyl acetate, optionally ethylene and optionally one or more further ethylenically unsaturated monomers are polymerized. In the second stage, in the presence of the polymer from the first stage, 1% to 25% by weight of vinyl acetate, 0.01% to 2% by weight of one or more ethylenically unsaturated silicon-functional monomers and optionally one or more further ethylenically unsaturated monomers are polymerized. In the third stage, in the presence of the polymer from the second stage, 5% to 40% by weight of one or more monomers selected from the group encompassing esters of acrylic acid, esters of methacrylic acid and vinyl aromatics and optionally one or more further ethylenically unsaturated monomers are polymerized.
ELASTIC INFILL FOR ARTIFICIAL TURF
Provided is an elastic infill for artificial turf. The elastic infill is produced by pelletization of an elastomer composition comprising a silane coupling agent and a mixture of an olefin copolymer-containing base resin and an inorganic filler. The silane coupling agent is present in admixture with the mixture. Alternatively, the silane coupling agent may be grafted onto the olefin copolymer to allow cross-linking of the olefin copolymer in the presence of water.
