An object of the present invention is to provide a composition for a positive electrode having high binding properties and high flexibility. A composition for a positive electrode, comprising: a graft copolymer-based resin; a polyvinylidene fluoride-based resin, wherein the graft copolymer-based resin includes a graft copolymer in which a monomer, having (meth)acrylonitrile as a main component, is graft-copolymerized with a polyvinyl alcohol. The graft copolymer-based resin optionally further includes at least one of a (meth)acrylonitrile-based non-graft polymer and a polyvinyl alcohol homopolymer. And, a slurry for a positive electrode comprising the composition. A positive electrode comprising a metal foil and a coating film of the slurry. The composition preferably has a mass ratio of the graft copolymer-based resin and the polyvinylidene fluoride resin, which is: graft copolymer-based resin/polyvinylidene fluoride-based resin=2/8 to 8/2.

The present invention relates to a vinyl alcohol-based polymer having an olefin in side chain, comprising a vinyl alcohol unit and a structural unit represented by Formula (I), wherein X represents a divalent saturated hydrocarbon group with 1 to 6 carbon atoms, optionally having a branched structure; Y represents a hydrogen atom or a saturated hydrocarbon group with 1 to 6 carbon atoms, optionally having a branched structure; and Z represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group. A composition containing: modified polyvinyl alcohol; and unsaturated monocarboxylic acid or a salt thereof, wherein the modified polyvinyl alcohol has a viscosity-average degree of polymerization of from 400 to 3500, has a degree of saponification of from 68 mol % to 99.9 mol %, and contains from 0.01 mol % to 1.50 mol % of an acryloyl group or a methacryloyl group in a side chain, the unsaturated monocarboxylic acid or a salt thereof is at least one selected from the group consisting of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, sodium acrylate, and sodium methacrylate, and in the composition, a mass ratio of the modified polyvinyl alcohol/the unsaturated monocarboxylic acid or a salt thereof is from 82/18 to 99.9/0.1. The composition is thus provided that is excellent in water solubility and storage stability and polymerization stability of a vinyl compound and contains the modified polyvinyl alcohol.

The composition is thus provided that is excellent in water solubility and storage stability and polymerization stability of a vinyl compound and contains the modified polyvinyl alcohol.

TONER

A toner includes toner particles. The toner particles each include a toner mother particle. The toner mother particles contain a binder resin, a magnetic powder, and a charge control agent. The binder resin includes a block polymer. The block polymer has a polyester portion and a vinyl polymer portion. The charge control agent includes a styrene-acrylic resin having a quaternary ammonium group. A content percentage of the charge control agent in the toner mother particles is at least 1.5% by mass and no greater than 12.0% by mass.

The graft copolymer has a trunk polymer having a hydroxyl group; and a branch having a C.sub.7-40 hydrocarbon group bonded to the trunk polymer at a carbon atom substituted with the hydroxyl group, wherein the branch has a repeating unit formed from an acrylic monomer represented by the formula: CH.sub.2C(X)C(O)YZ(Y.sup.2R).sub.n. The treatment method include applying the graft copolymer to the substrate.
