Polymer film-metal composites

Disclosed is a method of preparing polymer film-metal composites and uses of such composites. The metal can be in the form of a nanoparticle or a film. The methods comprise depositing on a surface, a composition comprising: a cationic metal precursor; a polymer film precursor that comprises a plurality of photopolymerizable groups; and a photoreducer-photoinitiator; then irradiating the composition under conditions to simultaneously reduce the cationic metal and polymerize the photopolymerizable groups to obtain the composite on the surface.

SWELLABLE PHOTOPOLYMERIZED HYDROGELS FOR EXPANSION MICROSCOPY

Compositions and methods for preparing and using a swellable polymer network for expansion microscopy (ExM) applications. The swellable polymer network can be prepared on demand using external stimuli for ExM applications. A variety of external stimuli can be employed, including light irradiation, pH, temperature, and magnetic fields. Network preparation using light irradiation is particularly advantageous, as it allows tuned control over the network properties through the variation of time and dose of light irradiation. In other words, light irradiation can be employed with a wavelength and intensity that enables a polymer network formation.

Biodegradable, industrially compostable, and recyclable injection molded microcellular flexible foams
11465377 · 2022-10-11 · ·

This document discloses a process for manufacturing recyclable injection molded microcellular foams for use in, footwear components, seating components, protective gear components, and watersport accessories. The process includes the steps of providing a thermoplastic polymer which comprises at least one monomer derived from depolymerized post-consumer plastic, inserting a fluid into a barrel of a molding apparatus. The fluid is introduced under temperature and pressure conditions to produce a super critical fluid. The process further includes mixing the thermoplastic polymer and super critical fluid so as to create a single phase solution, and injecting the single phase solution into a mold of an injection molding machine under gas counter pressure. The process further includes foaming the single phase solution by controlling the head and temperature conditions within the mold.
