LAMINATED POLYESTER FILM
The invention provides a laminated polyester film that is highly transparent, is resistant to blocking, and has excellent adhesion to a hardcoat layer and UV ink. The laminated polyester film contains a polyester film substrate and a coating layer on at least one surface of the polyester film substrate, wherein the coating layer is formed by curing a composition containing a urethane resin with a polycarbonate structure and a branched structure, a crosslinking agent, and a polyester resin.
Polycarbodiimide compound and thermosetting resin composition
A polycarbodiimide compound represented by the following general formula (1): ##STR00001## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.3 are defined in the specification; R.sup.2 comprises a group represented by formula (i) or (ii) as defined in the specification; the proportion of the groups represented by the formula (i) relative to all the R.sup.2 groups in the polycarbodiimide compound is 30 to 70 mol %, and the proportion of the groups represented by the formula (ii) relative to all the R.sup.2 groups in the polycarbodiimide compound is 30 to 70 mol %; X.sup.1 and X.sup.2 each represent a group formed by the reaction of the organic compound and isocyanate, and X.sup.1 and X.sup.2 may be the same as or different from each other; and n represents an integer of 2 to 50.

Provided are a polyester resin modifying agent, a method for producing the same, and a polyester resin composition including the modifying agent, the polyester resin modifying agent including a polycarbodiimide compound, being capable of improving hydrolysis resistance of a polyester resin, having a small content of a carbodiimidizing catalyst having been used in producing the polyester resin modifying agent, and having suppressed yellowness. Provided are a polyester resin modifying agent in which a polycarbodiimide compound obtained by reacting an aliphatic diisocyanate, an isocyanate-terminal capping agent, and a carbodiimidizing catalyst is included, a content of the carbodiimidizing catalyst falls within a predetermined range, and a yellowness index (YI) is less than 20; a method for producing the polyester resin modifying agent; and a polyester resin composition.
POLYCARBODIIMIDE COMPOUND, AND POLYESTER RESIN COMPOSITION AND POLYESTER RESIN MODIFIER IN WHICH SAME IS USED
Provided are a polycarbodiimide compound and a polyester resin composition and polyester resin modifier using the polycarbodiimide compound, the polycarbodiimide compound having a small amount of residual amine and having good processability when the polycarbodiimide compound is added to the polyester resin while keeping hydrolysis resistance of polyester resin imparted thereto through addition of the polycarbodiimide compound. A polycarbodiimide compound represented by the following general formula (1): R.sub.mNH.sub.2-m—CO—NH—Z—(N═C═N—Z).sub.n—NH—CO—NH.sub.2-mR.sub.m (1) is used, wherein R.sub.m is a hydrocarbon residue of an amine compound which is represented by R.sub.mNH.sub.3-m and has a boiling point at 1 atm of 150° C. or lower; m is 1 or 2; Z is a residue obtained by removing two isocyanate groups from an aliphatic diisocyanate compound; and n is any integer of 2 to 7.

A polycarbodiimide composition is obtained by subjecting a reaction product of a straight-chain aliphatic diisocyanate and alcohols to carbodiimidization, and the alcohols include a polyol and a monool; in the alcohols, a mole ratio (hydroxyl group derived from polyol/hydroxyl group derived from monool) of the amount of hydroxyl groups derived from the polyol to the amount of hydroxyl groups derived from the monool is below 2.0; and a carbodiimide equivalent of the polycarbodiimide composition is 300 g/mol or more and below 550 g/mol.
Powder coating composition comprising an organometallic catalyst
The present invention is directed to a powder coating composition including a hydroxy-functional polymer, a carbodiimide crosslinker, and an organometallic catalyst. The present invention is also directed to a substrate at least partially coated with the powder coating composition. The present invention is also directed to a method of applying a coating composition to a substrate including: applying the powder coating composition to a substrate and heating the powder coating composition to form a coating over the substrate.
ADHESIVES BASED ON CARBODIMIDE CHEMISTRY
Described herein is a thermosetting resin composition, obtained from the reaction of at least: a polycarbodiimide (i), where the number of carbodiimide groups per molecule is in the range of from 1 to 10; a mixture of crystalline and amorphous polyols (ii), where the molar ratio of carbodiimide groups in the polycarbodiimide according to (i) to hydroxyl groups in the mixture according to (ii) is in the range of from 1:2 to 2:1 and where at least 25 weight-% of the mixture according to (ii) consists of at least one crystalline polyesterol, based on the overall weight of the mixture being 100 weight-%. Also described herein is a method of using the thermosetting resin composition as an adhesive, as well as processes for preparation of adhesives, an element including an adhesive layer on at least one substrate, and an adhesive film, obtained from one of the processes.
