Curative
A curative for epoxidized plant-based oils and epoxidized natural rubber is created from the reaction between a naturally occurring polyfunctional acid and an epoxidized plant-based oil is disclosed. The curative may be used to produce porosity-free castable resins and vulcanize rubber formulations based on epoxidized natural rubber. Materials made from disclosed materials may be advantageously used as leather substitutes.

A curative for epoxidized plant-based oils and epoxidized natural rubber is created from the reaction between a naturally occurring polyfunctional acid and an epoxidized plant-based oil is disclosed. The curative may be used to produce at least one of six different materials, wherein each type of material may be configured as a thermosetting elastomer that is crosslinked with β-hydroxyester linkages. The materials may be configured as a leather-like material, a foam material, a molded elastomer, a coating, an adhesive, and/or a rigid or semi-rigid material. Illustrative articles made from any combination of the six materials may be recycled using a mechano-chemical process to de-crosslink the thermosetting elastomer.

THERMOPLASTIC RESIN, OPTICAL FILM MADE THEREFROM, DIOL COMPOUND, DIESTER COMPOUND
A thermoplastic resin may have a structural unit of formula (1):
##STR00001##
wherein A.sup.1 to A.sup.8 are each independently ═CH— or ═N—, and at least one of A.sup.1 to A.sup.8 is ═N—. R.sup.1 to R.sup.8 are each independently a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, a heteroaryl group, or the like, and at least two adjacent groups out of R.sup.1 to R.sup.8 may be bonded to each other to form a ring. R.sup.9 and R.sup.10 are each independently a direct bond or an optionally substituted alkylene group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms. X is an oxygen atom, a carbonyl group, or an optionally substituted amino group. And n is an integer of 0 to 5.

Process to prepare a cyclic oligomer and a cyclic oligomer obtainable thereby and a process to polymerize it
A process to prepare a (iv) cyclic polyester oligomer composition includes a cyclic polyester oligomer having furanic units and two to five repeat units. The process includes (a) reacting a monomer composition including: (i) a bifunctional furan-derivative and (ii) a diol in an linear oligomerization step to produce a (iii) linear oligomer composition including a linear oligomer species, (b) reacting the (iii) linear oligomer composition in a distillation-assisted cyclization (DA-C) step to form a (iv) cyclic polyester oligomer composition and a (v) diol byproduct. The (v) diol byproduct is removed by evaporation in the distillation-assisted cyclization (DA-C) step.
