NEW HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT POLYMERS FROM WASTE RAW MATERIALS
A polyether carbonate polyol with a nominal functionality of 3 or more includes an equivalent molecular weight between 20,000 and 500,000 Da, and content of between 0.5 wt % and 35 wt % of CO2 based on the total weight of the polyether carbonate polyol. The polyether carbonate polyol has adhesive and impact modifying properties.
BLOCK COPOLYMERS AND SELF-ASSEMBLING NANOPARTICLES FORMED THEREFROM
The subject matter of this invention relates to block copolymers (BCPs) and, more particularly, to block copolymers capable of self-assembly into nanoparticles for the delivery of hydrophobic cargos. The BCPs include a hydrophobic block that contains a thioether functional group that is susceptible to oxidation, transforming the solubility of the block from hydrophobic to hydrophilic, thereby releasing the hydrophobic cargo of the nanoparticle.
POLYCARBONATE DIOL AND THERMOPLASTIC POLYURETHANE MADE FROM THE SAME
A polycarbonate diol is provided, including three kinds of repeating diol units, wherein one of the repeating diol units is chosen from an alkoxylated diol monomer.
Polycarbonate block copolymers
The disclosure pertains to amphiphilic block copolymers comprising an aliphatic polycarbonate chain coupled to a hydrophilic polymer. Such amphiphilic polymers may have the formula A-L-B, where A- is a polycarbonate or polyethercarbonate chain having from about 3 to about 500 repeating units, L is a linker moiety and B is a hydrophilic oligomer having from about 4 to about 200 repeating units. Provided copolymers are useful as surfactants capable of emulsifying aqueous solutions and supercritical carbon dioxide. Provided copolymers also have utility as additives for use in enhanced oil recovery methods.
Carbonate-linked surface modifying macromolecules
The invention relates to carbonate-linked surface modifying macromolecules and admixtures thereof. The admixtures can be used in industrial and medical applications where enhanced surface properties are desirable (e.g., surface properties reducing or preventing biofouling, immobilization of biomolecules, or denaturation of certain biomolecules).
Moisture-curing polyether carbonate containing alkoxysilyl groups
The present invention relates to a method for producing polyether carbonates containing alkoxysilyl groups in which (a) an unsaturated polyether carbonate polyol is reacted with (b) an alkoxysilane compound of formula (II) Si(X).sub.m(R1).sub.n(R2).sub.o (II), where XH, YSH and Y=C1-C22 alkylene, C6-C14 arylene, C7-C14 aralkylene, C7-C14 alkylarylene; R1=C1-C8 alkoxy, C7-C20-aralkoxy, C6-C14 aroxy, C7-C20 alkylaroxy; R2=C1-C22 alkyl, C6-C14 aryl, C7-C14 aralkyl, C7-C14 alkylaryl, and m and n represent, independently of one another, an integer 1, o is zero or an integer 1 and m+n+o=4. The invention further relates to the production of a polyurethane polymer using such a polyether carbonate, a cross-linked, siloxane group containing polymer and a molded part containing or consisting of said cross-linked polymer.
Polymer compositions and methods
The present invention encompasses polyurethane compositions comprising aliphatic polycarbonate chains. In one aspect, the present invention encompasses polyurethane foams, thermoplastics and elastomers derived from aliphatic polycarbonate polyols and polyisocyanates wherein the polyol chains contain a primary repeating unit having a structure: ##STR00001##
In another aspect, the invention provides articles comprising the inventive foam and elastomer compositions as well as methods of making such compositions.
FUNCTIONALIZED BILE ACIDS FOR THERAPEUTIC AND MATERIAL APPLICATIONS
The subject disclosure is directed to functionalized bile acids, preparation thereof, and usage thereof for therapeutic and material applications. In one embodiment, a method of generating functionalized bile acid materials can comprise directly activating a carboxylic acid of a bile acid compound using a coupling agent comprising an amide or ester compound, thereby generating an intermediate bile acid derivative material. The method can further comprise attaching a functional group material to the intermediate bile acid derivative material by reacting the functional group material and the intermediate bile acid derivative material, thereby generating a functionalized bile acid material.
Polycarbonate diol and thermoplastic polyurethane made from the same
A polycarbonate diol is provided, including three kinds of repeating diol units, wherein one of the repeating diol units is chosen from an alkoxylated diol monomer.
