The present invention relates to a process for the treatment of water from the production well of chemical enhanced oil recovery (CEOR) extraction. In particular, the process relates to the treatment of produced water with a combination of reagents to clarify the water, the reagents being selected from (i) a dithiocarbamate polymer which is water-soluble and has a molecular weight of 00 or more and (ii) a metal ion selected from the group comprising a cation of a transition metal, aluminium and lead, and an apparatus therefor. The use of such reagents in the clarification of produced water from polymer flood from chemical enhanced oil recovery is also disclosed.

SILICONE-MODIFIED POLYBENZOXAZOLE RESIN AND MAKING METHOD

A silicone-modified polybenzoxazole resin comprising repeating units of formulae (1a) and (1b) is prepared by addition polymerization. R.sup.1 to R.sup.4 are a C.sub.1-C.sub.8 monovalent hydrocarbon group, m and n are integers of 0-300, R.sup.5 is C.sub.1-C.sub.8 alkylene or phenylene, a and b are positive numbers of less than 1, a+b=1, and X.sup.1 is a divalent linker of formula (2). The resin is flexible, soluble in organic solvents, and easy to use.

Synergistic combinations of choline and reactive silanes in antimicrobial coatings

The invention relates to an antimicrobial coating composition formed by admixing choline bitartrate or choline chloride, an aminopropyltrialkoxysilane and water. This coating composition is preferably sprayed onto a surface and allowed to dry. Preferably the surface is a stainless steel surface. The coating reduces the amount of E. Coli on the surface of the substrate.

A stable solution of a ring-opened polymer is provided. The stable solution can be prepared using the following steps: (d) adding an N,O-heterocyclic compound of formula I or II and a DOPO-based compound into an organic solvent to provide a reaction solution: ##STR00001##
wherein R1 to R3, W1, W2, m, n, p and q are as defined in the specification. (e) heating the reaction solution to carry out a ring-opening reaction to provide a polymer solution; and (f) cooling the polymer solution to obtain the stable solution,
wherein the organic solvent is unreactive to the N,O-heterocyclic compound and the DOPO-based compound, and the amount of the DOPO-based compound is about 0.01 wt % to about 50 wt % based on the total weight of the N,O-heterocyclic compound and the DOPO-based compound. The stable solution is useful as a self-crosslinkable resin or a hardener for hardening epoxies.
