Systems, devices and methods are provided for producing a product comprising fibrous material, such as a filter. A system for manufacturing a fibrous material comprises a feeder for advancing a substrate of fibers from an upstream end to a downstream end and a first dispersion device for dispersing a binding agent onto the substrate to coat at least a portion of the fibers with the binding agent. The system further includes a second dispersion device for dispersing nanoparticles through the first surface of the substrate such that the nanoparticles are disposed within the substrate between the first and second surfaces. The binding agent facilitates the bond between the fibers and the nanoparticles to retain the nanoparticles within the internal structure of the substrate. In addition, facilitating this bond provides a more uniform distribution of the nanoparticles throughout the substrate, which improves the performance characteristics of the material.

The prepreg is formed by having a plurality of continuous fibers that are substantially oriented in a longitudinal direction, the continuous fibers constituting from about 30 wt. % to about 40 wt. % of the prepreg, a first resinous matrix that contains a first set of one or more thermoplastic polymers and within which the continuous fibers are embedded, wherein the thermoplastic polymers constitute from about 30 wt. % to about 40 wt. % of the prepreg, and a second resinous matrix that contains a second set of one or more thermoplastic polymers, wherein the second set of thermoplastic polymers constitute from about 30 wt. % to about 40 wt. % of the prepreg.

The moulding material can be cured to form a moulded article having a high quality surface finish that requires minimal preparation before painting and/or application in its intended use. The moulded article may be provided with sacrificial discontinuous indicator means to assist in uniform removal of a part of the surface enhancing layer of the moulded article for specific applications.

Composite, process for the production thereof, use of said material and articles comprising the said material

The present invention refers to a composite material that comprises carbon fiber or sheet made from polyacrylonitrile (PAN) or lignin being indicated for the manufacture of several articles such as high resistance pressure cylinder. Said material presents several advantages such as, for example, to provide improved screening to the articles that comprise it. The referred composite comprises: a first inner layer of polytetrafluorethylene, covered by a second layer of high-density polyethylene, adhered to a third layer of composite containing carbon fiber or sheet made from polyacrylonitrile (PAN) or lignin immersed in cured epoxy resin from a polymeric matrix and a hardener; and a fourth outer layer of composite, comprising aramid fiber impregnated with a dilating fluid and cured epoxy resin from a polymeric matrix and a hardener.

Epoxy resin-based fibre matrix compositions contain alkyl substituted ethylene amines such as dimethyldiethylenetriamine (DMDETA, also dimethyl-1,4,7-triazaheptane), as a curing agent. These curing agents are characterized by a short curing time for a comparatively long processing time, and make it possible to obtain cured epoxy resins that exhibit low brittleness and high tensile strength and have a high glass transition temperature; as a result of which the fibre matrix composition is suitable particularly for use in pultrusion and winding processes.
