Curable Compositions Of Benzoxazine And Phthalonitrile Resins
The present disclosure provides a polymerizable thermosetting composition comprising an acetylene-bearing benzoxazine compound and a phthalonitrile monomer. The composition can provide a low viscosity for RTM application and can fully cured at a much lower temperature than the phthalonitrile monomer. The cured thermoset polymers having excellent thermal and mechanical properties, such as high thermal stability, heat resistance, high char yield, and enhanced structural rigidity.

A fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin molded article includes a thermoplastic resin [A] and carbon fibers [B], a content of the thermoplastic resin [A] being 50 to 95 parts by weight and a content of the carbon fibers [B] being 5 to 50 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of a total of the thermoplastic resin [A] and the carbon fibers [B], the molded article having a bending elastic modulus of 30 GPa or more, an interfacial shear strength between the thermoplastic resin [A] and the carbon fibers [B] being 15 MPa or more, and a logarithmic decrement of the molded article calculated by Formula (1) of less than 3, wherein the carbon fibers [B] have a weight-average fiber length (L.sub.w) of 0.5 to 10.0 mm:

Disclosed herein is a foamable composition including a polymer component, a foaming agent, a crosslinking agent, a filler, and a recovered silicon sludge containing silicon carbide and silicon. The polymer component is present in an amount ranging from 15 wt % to 60 wt % based on a total weight of the foamable composition. A foamed material prepared from the foamable composition and a composite product including the same are also disclosed.

An epoxy resin composition including components (A), (B), (C) and (D); wherein a content of the component (A) is 60 to 90 parts by mass, and a content of the component (B) is 10 to 40 parts by mass, with respect to epoxy resins; the epoxy resin composition has a characteristic that, when cured and formed into a cured product, the cured product has a glass transition temperature of 200° C. or higher; and a viscosity at 100° C. of the resin composition is 5 to 35 Pa.Math.s, wherein Component (A) is an aromatic epoxy resin having at least 3 glycidyl groups in one molecule, Component (B) is an aromatic epoxy resin having two glycidyl groups in one molecule, Component (C) is an aromatic polysulfone resin having a reduced viscosity of 0.18 to 0.30 dl/g; and Component (D) is an aromatic amine compound.

Provided are a slurry composition having a low thixotropy and a superior handling property; a cured product of this slurry composition; and a substrate, film and prepreg using such cured product, the substrate, film and prepreg exhibiting excellent mechanical properties and a low relative permittivity and dielectric tangent. The slurry composition has a thixotropic ratio of not higher than 3.0, and comprises: (A) a cyclic imide compound having, per molecule, at least one dimer acid backbone, at least one linear alkylene group having not less than 6 carbon atoms, and at least two cyclic imide groups; (B) spherical silica fine particles and/or alumina fine particles having an average particle size of 0.05 to 20 μm when measured by a laser diffraction method; (C) a silane coupling agent capable of reacting with the components (A) and (B); and (D) an organic solvent.

An aspect of the present invention is a resin composition, which contains a polyphenylene ether compound, a curing agent, boron nitride, and an inorganic filler other than the boron nitride, in which the content of boron nitride is 15 to 70 parts by volume with respect to 100 parts by volume of the sum of the polyphenylene ether compound and the curing agent.

A sheet molding compound resin composition containing a thermosetting resin (A), a resin-curing agent (B), and a glycidyl ether (C) including an alkyl group having a carbon atom number of 7 to 14 and a glycidyl group is provided. The sheet molding compound resin composition can be favorably used for a sheet molding compound and a molded article of the sheet molding compound as a result of having excellent impregnating ability with respect to carbon fiber regardless of the resin viscosity.

A method of making a fiber-reinforced polymeric composite material comprises wetting a fibrous material with a liquid prepolymer composition comprising at least one (meth)acrylic monomer, at least one base, and at least one peroxy ester; and polymerizing the liquid prepolymer composition to form a fiber-reinforced polymeric composite material.

An object of the present invention is to provide an epoxy resin composition that can be preferably used for prepreg and fiber reinforced composite material applications, has high Tg, and is excellent in elastic modulus and strength. The present invention is the epoxy resin composition including the following components [A] to [C] and satisfying the following conditions (1) to (2): [A]: epoxy resin [B]: polyamine curing agent, and [C]: a compound having a boiling point of 130° C. or more and a molecular weight m of 50 or more and 250 or less, the compound having no epoxy group in the molecule and having substantially no curing ability of an epoxy resin, (1): at least a part of the component [C] satisfies that the sum of the polar component and the hydrogen bond component in the Hansen solubility parameters is 10.0 or less, (2): the ratio C/E of the amount by mole, E, for epoxy groups of the component [A] to the amount by mole, C, of the component [C] satisfying the condition (1) is 0.01 or more and 0.20 or less.
