PROCESS FOR MODIFYING THE SURFACE POLARITY OF RUBBER SUBSTRATES

The present invention relates to a process for modifying the surface polarity of elastomeric rubber substrates to facilitate their cold bonding to other rubber substrates or non-elastomeric substrates of a different material, preferably metal, by chlorinating the elastomeric rubber substrate surface by treatment with a chloride-containing composition and a peroxymonosulfate-containing composition. Further aspects relate to the thus-obtained surface-modified rubber substrates, processes of bonding them to other substrates by use of an adhesive, as well as the thus-obtained bonded substrates.

Recycled plastics and methods thereof

The present invention provides methods for reducing extractables from plastic articles made from recycled plastic. The method includes the steps of: (a) providing a plastic article in a chamber; and (b) providing a fluorination gas in the chamber, thereby exposing the plastic article to the fluorination gas. The method results in the reduction of the extractables from the plastic article.

A method for the direct fluorination of plastics and articles made from plastics is presented. The novel method includes ensuring extremely low oxygen and moisture content in the chamber before the primary fluorination step, ramping the fluorine concentration during the fluorination step, and providing a quenching step for improved shelf-life. Containers processed by the novel method demonstrate a marked improvement in barrier properties for organic solutions.

MODIFIED PLASTIC SURFACES WITH PERFLUOROPOLYMERS AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME

Modified plastic surfaces with perfluoropolymers are provided, whereby plastic surfaces that are intended for use under tribological conditions have substantially improved assembly properties and/or sliding friction properties and exhibit a very low degree of wear. Accordingly, modified plastic surfaces with perfluoropolymers are provided in which, after a reactive conversion under mechanical stress at room temperature, at least the reactive —NH groups and/or —OH groups present at the surface of plastics are present in a chemically covalently coupled manner with the perfluoropolymer carboxylic acid halide present at least in the surface-proximate region of modified perfluoropolymer (micro)powders and/or with the grafted (meth)acrylic acid halide present via perfluoropolymer (peroxy) radicals of the perfluoropolymer (micro)powders and/or (meth)acrylic acid that has been modified into (meth)acrylic acid halide before the reactive conversion.

Method for treating surface of resin material layer and resin material

A method is for treating a surface of a resin material layer. The method includes a first step of introducing as a substituent at least one selected from the group consisting of an acid halide and an alkyl halide into an aromatic polyether-based resin included in the resin material layer by Friedel-Crafts reaction.

HIGHLY LOADED INORGANIC FILLED ORGANIC RESIN SYSTEMS

The disclosure provides high viscosity, organic resin systems incorporating inorganic materials. The resin systems incorporate glasses, glass ceramics, or ceramics in high load levels and are particularly useful for development of three dimensional articles and in additive manufacturing processes. Processes for making the resin systems are also provided.

Wiper blade rubber

Provided is a wiper blade rubber which exhibits high adhesion to glass surfaces, excellent friction performance and excellent wiping performance, while being free from the occurrence of a bulge (blister) in a coating layer due to bleeding from a rubber substrate or blooming. A wiper blade rubber which has a lip part obtained by forming a coating layer on a rubber substrate by spray coating, and which is characterized in that: the coating layer is composed of a portion (A) that covers the rubber substrate and portions (B) that do not cover the rubber substrate; the portions (B) are a plurality of pores which are uniformly dispersed in the entire area of the coating layer and have diameters of 10 to 40 m; and the ratio of the total area of portion (A) that covers the rubber substrate to the total area of the portions (B) that do not cover the rubber substrate is from 40:60 to 60:40.
