Compositions comprising latent heat storage materials and methods of making the same
In one aspect, compositions are described herein. In some embodiments, a composition comprises a latent heat storage material having a solid-to-gel transition between about ?50? C. and about 100? C. at 1 atm. In some embodiments, a composition comprises a foam and a latent heat storage material dispersed in the foam, the latent heat storage material having a solid-to-gel transition between about ?50? C. and about 100? C. at 1 atm.
Sleeping products having fibers infused with cooling gel, mold release cooling gels and methods therefor
A method of making a sleep product having a cooling gel layer includes providing a mold, coating the mold with a composite material including a mold release and a cooling gel, and introducing a foaming mixture into the mold so that the foaming mixture is in contact with the composite material. The foaming mixture is allowed to rise and cure into a foam layer having an outer surface covered by the composite material. The composite material is both a mold release coating that facilitates removing the foam layer from the mold and a cooling gel coating that remains on the outer surface of the foam layer after the foam layer has been removed from the mold to provide a cooling effect at the outer surface of the foam layer.
AIR-PERMEABLE SPONGE COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR PREPARING AIR-PERMEABLE SPONGE BY USING THE SAME
An air-permeable sponge composition and a method for preparing an air-permeable sponge by using the same belong to the field of articles for daily use. An air-permeable sponge composition includes a sponge body and an air-permeable coating, and an outer surface layer of the sponge body being coated with the air-permeable coating. A method for making the air-permeable sponge utilizes the composition of the air-permeable sponge, wherein the air-permeable sponge is made from the air-permeable sponge composition under specific process parameters. The sponge body and air-permeable coating have the same or similar contents of isocyanate, polyether polyol and polymeric polyol and a similar porous structure.
Compositions comprising phase change materials and methods of making the same
In one aspect, compositions are described herein. In some embodiments, a composition comprises a phase change material, a hydrophobic sorption material, and a viscosity modifier. In some embodiments, a composition comprises a foam and a latent heat storage material dispersed in the foam, the latent heat storage material comprising a phase change material and a hydrophobic sorption material.
Polyurethane gel particles, methods and use in flexible foams
Combinations of open cell flexible foams with polyurethane gel particles, and methods of making the combinations are described using a variety of procedures. The open cell flexible foam may partially or wholly comprise polyurethane foam and latex foam.
HEAT-INSULATING WALL, AND HEAT-INSULATING HOUSING AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
A heat-insulating housing (21) includes: a wall body; and an open-cell resin body (4) of thermosetting resin with which a heat-insulating space formed by the wall body is filled by integral foaming, the open-cell resin body including: a plurality of cells (47); a cell film portion (42); a cell skeleton portion (43); a first through-hole (44) formed so as to extend through the cell film portion; and a second through-hole (45) formed so as to extend through the cell skeleton portion, wherein the plurality of cells communicate with one another through the first through-hole and the second through-hole.
Insulating Plastic Foams Based On Polyolefins
Embodiments of the present invention encompass methods of forming a foamed polyolefin and articles and materials of the foamed polyolefin. The foamed materials and articles may be used in applications requiring thermal insulation.
Compositions comprising phase change materials and methods of making the same
In one aspect, compositions are described herein. In some embodiments, a composition: comprises a phase change material, a hydrophobic sorption material, and a viscosity modifier. In some embodiments, a composition comprises a foam and a latent heat storage material dispersed in the foam, the latent heat storage material comprising a phase change material and a hydrophobic sorption material.
Solid-solid phase-change materials
Polyether- or polyester-epoxide polymer (PEEP) compositions are disclosed. The compositions comprise reaction products of a polyepoxide compound and a polyol composition. The polyol composition has a melting point within the range of 20? C. to 100? C. and a hydroxyl number less than 35 mg KOH/g. The PEEP composition is a solid-solid phase-change material. As measured by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) at a heating/cooling rate of 10? C./minute, the PEEP composition has a transition temperature within the range of ?10? C. to 70? C., a latent heat at the transition temperature within the range of 30 to 200 J/g, and little or no detectable hysteresis or supercooling upon thermal cycling over at least five heating/cooling cycles that encompass the transition temperature. The PEEP compositions should enable formulators to manage thermal energy changes in many practical applications, including automotive, marine or aircraft parts, building materials, appliance insulation, electronics, textiles, garments, and paints or coatings.
POLY(HYDROXY)URETHANES FOR ENCAPSULATING PHASE CHANGE MATERIALS AND METHODS OF MAKING THE S
The present disclosure relates to a composition that includes a poly(hydroxy)urethane (PHU) foam, a phase change material (PCM), and a solid additive, where the PHU foam includes a plurality of voids, at least a portion of the voids contain the PCM and the solid additive, and the composition is capable of being repeatedly cycled through a temperature range, resulting in the PCM cycling between a solid phase and a liquid phase. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the PCM may include at least one of a hydrated salt, a paraffin wax, a sugar alcohol, a fatty acid, and/or a eutectic mixture.
