VOLUME EXPANDABLE SORBENT MATERIAL FOR CAPTURE OF ORGANIC FLUIDS AND SOLVENTS AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
A compact, highly expandable sorbent made from polymeric materials is contemplated. The resulting sorbent can absorb more than 20 times its original volume owing to an internal foam-like structure having micron-level voids bisected by internal struts which themselves have nano-level pores. Further, this sorbent can be compressed and reused multiple times, thereby making it an ideal substance to facilitate separation of disparate fluids, such as oils floating on or within an aqueous solution.
COMPOSITE HOUSE WRAP FORMED OF LOW DENSITY POLYETHYLENE FOAM WITH EVACUATED CLOSED CELLS AND HAVING TORTUOUS PATHS OF THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY
A house wrap for a building comprises a reinforcing drainage plane layer configured to face the outside of the building; a breathable, non-perforated barrier film bonded to the drainage plane layer; and at least one insulating layer including a perforated expanded low density polyethylene foam layer, wherein in the expanded low density polyethylene layer at least 80% of the blowing agents are dissipated from closed cells within the expanded low density polyethylene layer, forming evacuated closed cells whereby a partial vacuum is formed within the closed cells of the low density polyethylene layer.
HIPE FOAM AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
A HIPE foam may including a vinyl-based crosslinked polymer as a base material resin. The vinyl-based crosslinked polymer may be formed by crosslinking a polymer of a styrene-based monomer and/or an acryl-based monomer. An apparent density ρ of the HIPE foam may be 35 kg/m.sup.3 or more and 500 kg/m.sup.3 or less. A molecular weight between crosslinking points of the vinyl-based crosslinked polymer forming the HIPE foam may be 2×10.sup.3 or more and 2×10.sup.5 or less. The HIPE foam may be used as, for example, a machinable material or an impact absorbing material.
METHOD FOR PREPARING MICROCARRIER SUITABLE FOR THREE-DIMENSIONAL CELL CULTURE AND REACTION APPARATUS
Provided herein is a method for preparing microcarrier particles, comprising the steps of allowing the dispersed phase liquid flow through a multi-hole plate at a low temperature to form liquid microspheres in a continuous phase, and enabling a synthetic polymer and/or natural biological macromolecules within the liquid microspheres to be subject to a curing reaction at a low temperature to form particles. Further provided herein are the method for preparing an emulsion and an apparatus and process system for preparing microcarrier particles, which can be used for preparing emulsions and microcarrier particles on a large scale.
TUNABLE, RAPID UPTAKE, AMINOPOLYMER AEROGEL SORBENT FOR DIRECT AIR CAPTURE OF CO2
A primary amine polymer aerogel comprising greater than 5 wt. % of primary amine monomers covalently bound to cross-linking monomers, wherein the primary amine monomers are selected from vinyl amine. A secondary amine polymer aerogel comprising secondary amine monomers covalently bound to cross-linking monomers, the secondary amine monomers being a result of substituting a hydrogen atom from a primary amine polymer aerogel, the primary amine polymer aerogel comprising vinyl amine monomers covalently bound to the cross-linking monomers. A tertiary amine polymer aerogel comprising tertiary amine monomers covalently bound to cross-linking monomers, the tertiary amine monomers being a result of substituting hydrogen atoms from a primary amine polymer aerogel, the primary amine polymer aerogel comprising vinyl amine monomers covalently bound to the cross-linking monomers.
Foam particle moulded article, and production method therefor
An expanded beads molded article containing a block copolymer of a polyethylene block and an ethylene-α-olefin copolymer block and having a density of 150 kg/m.sup.3 or more and 500 kg/m.sup.3 or less and a tensile strength of 0.5 MPa or more.
Radiopaque thermoplastic polymer
An embodiment includes a polymer composition comprising a thermoplastic polymer that: (a) is bonded to iodine, (b) includes a vinyl group, and (c) includes urethane linkages. Other embodiments are described herein.
Superabsorbent polymer composition and method for preparing the same
The present invention relates to superabsorbent polymer and a method for preparing the same. The present invention can provide a superabsorbent polymer in which a hydrophobic material having an HLB of 0-6 and a surface cross-linking agent are mixed into a base resin prepared in the presence of water dispersible silica, thereby having improved rewetting characteristics and permeability through surface-modification of the base resin.
Method of preparing elastic pressure-sensitive adhesive tape and elastic pressure-sensitive adhesive tape
Disclosed are a method of preparing an elastic pressure-sensitive adhesive tape and an elastic pressure-sensitive adhesive tape. Main components of the adhesive include a polyacrylate resin with a carbon-carbon double bond and a diluent monomer with a carbon-carbon double bond. A quasi-microcapsule powder component is adopted, wherein the shell material of the quasi-microcapsule powder selects a cellulose-based water soluble polymer, and the core material selects low boiling point alkane, wherein the preparation method combines UV curing, heating, and shell burst, to obtain an elastic adhesive layer, whereby to prepare a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape product. Compared with conventional elastic pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes, the preparing method as disclosed has a simple manufacturing process. The pressure-sensitive adhesive tape obtained from the disclosed preparing method overcomes the restrictions of conventional foam strips and provide good cushioning and compression properties without using foam as the carrier.
