SEMI-RIGID MELAMINE FOAM PLASTIC AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF

A method for preparing a semi-rigid melamine foam plastic, comprising Step (1): adding a formaldehyde solution and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) to a reactor, heating the reactor, and adding alkali; Step (2): feeding solid melamine powder and a modifier 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) into the reactor, raising the temperature in the reactor to 75-85° C., adjusting the pH value of the solution of material by adding acid; heating the solution of material, performing a heat preservation reaction, and then adding alkali, Step (3): feeding a predetermined amount of foaming agent, emulsifier, auxiliary agent and curing agent into a stirring reactor to obtain a mixed auxiliary agent; pumping the mixed auxiliary agent and the semi-rigid modified melamine resin into an emulsifier; placing the emulsified resin into a microwave heating chamber for microwave foaming; Step (4): cutting the semi-rigid melamine foam plastic obtained in step (3) and then drying.

CUSHIONING MEMBER FOR ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR AND RELATED METHODS

A method of forming a polymeric foam material is provided and includes providing a precursor material having a first thickness, the precursor material being an open-cell foam material and applying a uniaxial compressive force to the precursor material to compress the precursor material to a second thickness, the compressive force causing a cell structure of the precursor material to collapse. The method also includes heating the precursor material at a molding temperature for a first time period while the compressive force is applied, the first time period being sufficient to heat the precursor material to a softening temperature, removing the compressive force from the precursor material, and maintaining the cell structure of the precursor material in a collapsed state.

VOLUME EXPANDABLE SORBENT MATERIAL FOR CAPTURE OF ORGANIC FLUIDS AND SOLVENTS AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME

A compact, highly expandable sorbent made from polymeric materials is contemplated. The resulting sorbent can absorb more than 20 times its original volume owing to an internal foam-like structure having micron-level voids bisected by internal struts which themselves have nano-level pores. Further, this sorbent can be compressed and reused multiple times, thereby making it an ideal substance to facilitate separation of disparate fluids, such as oils floating on or within an aqueous solution.

Methods of forming a lightweight reinforced thermoplastic core layer and articles including the core layer are described. In some examples, the methods use a combination of thermoplastic material, reinforcing fibers and bicomponent fibers to enhance retention of lofting agents in the core layer. The processes permit the use of less material while still providing sufficient lofting capacity in the final formed core layer.
