BIOPOLYMER FILM AND METHOD OF PREPARING THE SAME

A method of producing biopolymer films is disclosed. The method includes pre-treating a carbon source, preparing a basal media, preparing an inoculum and fermenting the carbon source using the inoculum in the basal media so as to selectively modify the metabolic pathway of the microorganism to produce a biopolymer. Further, the method includes recovering the biopolymer resulting from the step of fermentation and blending the biopolymer with at least one blending agent to produce one or more biopolymer films.

RESIN PARTICLE

[Problem] To provide a resin particle having excellent heat resistance and flexibility.

[Solution] A resin particle in which a mass loss rate after being immersed in distilled water at 70° C. for 14 days is less than 10%, and in which a mass loss rate after being left in a compost having a composition shown below at 55° C. for 14 days is 90% or more.

Cellulose ester and impact modifier compositions and articles made using these compositions

A cellulose ester composition is provided comprising at least one cellulose ester and at least one impact modifier and optionally at least one plasticizer. Processes for producing the cellulose ester compositions as well as articles made using these compositions, such as eyeglass frames, automotive parts, and toys are also provided.

Method and system for making light-blocking articles

A method is designed to prepare foamed, opacifying elements each having a target light blocking value (LBV.sub.T) of at least 3, using a textile fabric substrate with a light blocking value (LBV.sub.S). The LBV.sub.T-S difference is calculated; a foamable aqueous composition is chosen; a dry coating weight for the foamable aqueous composition (when foamed) is determined to form a single dry opacifying layer that is foamed, dried, and densified to provide a dry thickness at least 20% less than the original dry thickness. The single dry opacifying layer a has light blocking value that is equal to LBV.sub.T-S, ±15%. The desired foamable aqueous composition can be chosen from a set of similar compositions to achieve the desired LBV.sub.T with the noted textile fabric substrate using suitable mathematical formula relating dry coating weight to light blocking value and a suitable data processor.

This invention relates to cellulose ester compositions cable of being calendered. The invention also relates to calendered films or sheets comprising the cellulose ester compositions and processes for calendering the cellulose compositions.

PLASTICIZED CELLULOSE ESTER COMPOSITIONS WITH IMPROVED MELT STRENGTH AND PROCESSABILITY AND FLOORING ARTICLES FORMED THEREFROM

Disclosed is a plasticized cellulose ester composition. The plasticized cellulose ester composition of the present invention includes at least one cellulose ester; at least one plasticizer; and an effective amount of a melt- strength enhancing additive. Related calendered articles and flooring articles are also described.

Method for manufacturing resin beads, resin beads, and product employing resin beads

A method for producing resin beads providing various types of products, such as cosmetics, imparted with superior tactile impression, spreadability on skin, transparency, and product stability is provided. The resin beads containing a cellulose derivative as a main component can replace resin particles composed of a synthetic material derived from petroleum. The production method includes: preparing a suspension containing oil droplets containing the cellulose derivative and an organic solvent by mixing an oil phase containing the cellulose derivative and an organic solvent dissolving the cellulose derivative and having a water-solubility of 0.1 to 50.0 g, with an aqueous phase containing a dispersion stabilizer; and contracting the oil droplets by adding water to the suspension, satisfying expression (A) below as defined in the specification, until a content of the organic solvent in the suspension becomes equal to or less than the water-solubility of the organic solvent: (W/S)/T≤1.00 . . . (A).

CELLULOSE ESTER AND IMPACT MODIFIER COMPOSITIONS AND ARTICLES MADE USING THESE COMPOSITIONS
