wherein all or some of X represents an acyl group; when some of X represents an acyl group, the remainder represents a group selected from a hydrogen atom and an alkyl group; and n represents an integer of from 20 to 20,000.
Regioselectively substituted cellulose esters
The present application discloses regioselectively substituted cellulose esters, films made from the regioselectively substituted cellulose esters and methods for making the same. The regioselectively substituted cellulose esters are synthesized using trifluoroacetic anhydride and cellulose with various acyl donors or acyl donor precursors.
BIODEGRADABLE COMPOSITIONS AND ARTICLES FORMED THEREFROM
A biodegradable composition is disclosed. The biodegradable composition includes (i) a biodegradable polymer and (ii) a cellulose ester. Films that include or are formed from the biodegradable composition, as well as articles that include a substrate and a layer of the biodegradable composition on a surface thereof, are also described.
Resin beads, method for producing resin beads and product using resin beads
The present invention provides resin beads that can provide various types of products such as cosmetics which are unlikely to generate an odor and have superior tactile impression and spreadability on the skin and that can be substituted for resin particles composed of a synthetic material derived from petroleum, and the present invention also provides various types of products such as cosmetics using the resin beads. The resin beads are formed with a resin containing a cellulose derivative as a main component. In the resin beads, the cellulose derivative is at least one selected from the group consisting of cellulose acetate, cellulose acetate propionate, ethyl cellulose, and hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, the volume average particle diameter is 50 ?m or smaller, the degree of sphericity is 0.7 to 1.0, the degree of surface smoothness is 80 to 100%, the acetyl group content ratio is 15% by mass or less, and the propionyl group content ratio is 10% by mass or more. In addition, the present invention provides a product of any one of a cosmetic, a dermatological preparation, a paint, a shaped article, a film, a coating agent, and a resin composition, which contain the resin beads.
Compositions based on acrylic block copolymer blends
Described herein is a composition comprising a polymeric blend of: (i) a first polymer comprising at least one acrylic block copolymer, wherein the at least one acrylic block copolymer comprises: (a) at least two A block polymeric units wherein each A block has a glass transition temperature of at least 90 C and each A block is independently derived from a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer comprising a first (meth)acrylate monomer; and (b) at least one B block polymeric unit wherein the at least one B block has a glass transition temperature no greater than 30 C and wherein the at least one B block is derived from a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer comprising a second (meth)acrylate monomer; and (ii) a second polymer selected from at least one of a polyvinyl acetal resin, a polyvinyl acetate, and a cellulose ester.
