Tank base
A method for the construction of an improved tank base. A tank base is constructed for protection against accidental spills and/or leaks associated with a tank battery. The improved tank base comprises at least one part of a suitable substrate, which allows for the adhesion of an elastomer such as polyurea. Polyurea is preferably applied using a spray device which yields an average coverage of about 50-80 mils, and most preferably 60 mils. If more than one substrate is used, one or more substrates can be bound together with a fastening system. Once pressure is applied in the form of weight, the fastening system can be removed, resulting in an improved tank base having at least one seam and impervious to the fluid of the tank battery.
Foamed articles exhibiting improved thermal properties
Cellular and multi-cellular polystyrene and polystyrenic foams and methods of forming such foams are disclosed. The foams include an expanded polystyrene formed from expansion of an expandable polystyrene including an adsorbent comprising alumina, wherein the multi-cellular polystyrene exhibits a multi-cellular size distribution. The process for forming a foamed article includes providing a formed styrenic polymer and contacting the formed styrenic polymer with a first blowing agent and an adsorbent comprising alumina to form extrusion polystyrene. The process further includes forming the extrusion styrenic polymer into an expanded styrenic polymer and forming the expanded styrenic polymer into a foamed article.
Self-cooling foam-containing composite materials
Provided herein is a composite material that includes at least one thermoresponsive polymer and at least one organic foam material. Further provided herein is a method for producing the composite material and also to the use of the composite material for cooling and for regulating temperature.
Polymeric powder composition and a method of producing same
A polymeric powder composition prepared from an emulsion blend comprising from 95 to less than 100 percent by weight latex based substrate polymer, wherein the latex based substrate polymer comprises units derived from one or more monomers selected from the group consisting of alkyl (meth)acrylates, functionalized alkyl(meth)acrylates styrene, acrylonitrile, butadiene, chloroprene, vinyl chloride, (meth)acrylates, vinyl acetate, and combinations of two or more thereof and wherein the latex based substrate polymer has a Tg equal to or greater than 60° C. and an average particle size between 100 nm and 10 μm; and from greater than 0 to 5 percent by weight binder latex polymer, wherein the binder has a Tg of equal to or less than 10° C. and has units derived from one or more (meth)acrylic monomers, and wherein the binder polymer has an average particle size from 50 to 250 nm is provided.
Process for preparing a conductive composition using a masterbatch
A composition can include polystyrene, modified-polystyrene, or a mixture thereof. The polystyrene, modified-polystyrene, or mixture thereof can include carbon nanotubes. The composition can also include a polyolefin. The composition can include at most 1.90% by weight of carbon nanotubes, based on a total weight of the composition. The composition can be prepared by providing a masterbatch including at least 5% by weight of carbon nanotubes based on a total weight of the masterbatch, and a polyolefin and/or styrenic copolymer. The masterbatch can be blended with polystyrene, modified-polystyrene, or a mixture thereof, and with a polyolefin, in amounts such that a conductive composition is obtained. An article can be made of the conductive composition.
Process for recovering brominated styrene-butadiene copolymer from an organic solvent
Brominated styrene-butadiene copolymers are recovered from solution in an organic solvent. The copolymer solution is mixed with a liquid non-solvent in the presence of a suspension stabilizer to form a dispersion. The dispersion is heated to vaporize the organic solvent. This process produces precipitated copolymer particles having useful particle sizes, which can be easily used in downstream applications.
THERMOPLASTIC ELASTOMER COMPOSITION AND MOLDED PRODUCT OBTAINED THEREFROM
This invention relates to a thermoplastic elastomer composition having a type A hardness (i.e., the momentary value) of 55 or less in accordance with JIS K6253, which comprises 35 to 65 parts by weight of an olefin-based thermoplastic elastomer (A) having a type A hardness (i.e., the momentary value) of 75 or less in accordance with JIS K6253 and 65 to 35 parts by weight of a styrene-based thermoplastic elastomer (B) having a type A hardness (i.e., the momentary value) of 60 or less in accordance with JIS K6253 (with the total amount of components (A) and (B) being 100 parts by weight) and a molded thermoplastic elastomer product obtained via molding of such composition.
Thermodeformable polymer/fiber composite
A process for producing a thermoformable polymer/fiber composite.
Liquid modifier as carrier system for CFAs in foamed polystyrenes
The invention relates to a liquid formulation for foaming a thermoplastic polystyrene, said formulation comprising a) a liquid carrier; and b) at least one endothermic chemical blowing agent selected from the group consisting of dicarboxylic acids, tricarboxylic acids, salts of dicarboxylic acids, salts of tricarboxylic acids, esters of dicarboxylic acids and esters of tricarboxylic acids.
