The present invention relates to thermoplastic polyurethanes obtainable or obtained by reacting at least a polyisocyanate composition comprising at least one polyisocyanate, at least one chain extender, and at least one polyol composition, wherein the polyol composition comprises at least one polyester polyol (P1) which is obtainable by reacting an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid having 2 to 12 carbon atoms and a mixture (M1) comprising propane-1,3-diol and a further diol (D1) having 2 to 12 carbon atoms, preferably butane-1,4-diol. The present invention also relates to a preparation process for such thermoplastic polyurethanes and also to the use of a thermoplastic polyurethane according to the invention or of a thermoplastic polyurethane obtainable or obtained by a process according to the invention for the production of extrusion products, films and shaped bodies or for the production of polymer compositions.

Rigid polyurethane or polyisocyanurate foams, polyester polyols used to produce them, and methods for formulating the foams are disclosed. The foams comprise a reaction product of a polyisocyanate, a polyester polyol, water, a surfactant, a catalyst and optional ingredients. The polyester polyols comprise a phthalimide-containing polyacid, a phthalimide-containing polyol, or a combination thereof. Rigid foams produced from the polyester polyols exhibit higher thermal stability and/or greater intumescence when compared with foams made from other polyester polyols. The phthalimide-containing polyester polyols should allow formulators to improve the flammability performance of rigid foams with reduced levels of flame retardants and/or lower index and should facilitate the production of thinner insulation panels.

Foam wall structures and methods for making them are described. The wall structures include a frame, a foam panel overlying a front surface of the frame, and a polyurethane foam layer disposed in a cavity of the wall structure. The polyurethane foam layer has a density, as determined by ASTM D1622-14, of at least 44 kg/m.sup.3 and exhibits ASTM E84-16 Class A flame spread and smoke development characteristics. The polyurethane foam layer is the cured reaction product of a polyurethane foam-forming composition that includes a polyisocyanate, an aromatic polyester polyol having a functionality of greater than 2.5 and an OH number of at least 300 mg KOH/g, which is present in an amount of at least 50% by weight, based on the total weight of the polyurethane foam-forming composition less the weight of the polyisocyanate, a catalyst, and a blowing agent composition. The blowing agent composition includes water and a hydrofluoroolefin.

A urethane resin composition including: a urethane resin (A) having an anionic group and a nonionic group and produced using as a raw material a polycarbonate polyol (a1) produced using biomass-derived decanediol as a raw material; a nonionic emulsifier (B); and water (C). A leather sheet in which a coagulated product of the urethane resin composition is present in a fibrous substrate. Both the urethane resin (A) and the nonionic emulsifier (B) preferably have an oxyethylene group and an oxypropylene group.

Proposed are an organic-inorganic composite synthetic resin using a highly flame-retardant organically modified nanoparticle, and a production method thereof. The method for producing the organic-inorganic composite synthetic resin using a highly flame-retardant organically modified nanoparticle includes the steps of: adding and stirring metal ion-based phosphinate, melamine cyanurate, and nanoclay to a container containing an aqueous or oily solvent, applying ultrasonic waves and high pressure energy to the stirred solution to prepare a highly flame-retardant organically modified silicate solution through a chemical bonding, and then adding a synthetic resin to form synthetic leather and foam used as life consumer goods to the silicate solution, processing and drying it.

Provided is a composition capable of forming a cured product having excellent adhesion to a substrate, hardness, scratch resistance, and chemical resistance. The composition of the present disclosure includes a polyol compound (A) and an isocyanate compound (B), the polyol compound (A) containing a compound (a1) having a number average molecular weight calibrated with polystyrene standards of less than 800 and being represented by Formula (1), where R.sup.1 to R.sup.3 are a group represented by Formula (1a); and the isocyanate compound (B) containing a compound (b) represented by Formula (2), where L.sup.1 to L.sup.3 are a hydrogen atom, an NCO group, or an alkyl group having from 1 to 10 carbon atom(s) and having a group represented by Formula (2′).

HCFO-containing isocyanate-reactive compositions, foam-forming compositions containing such isocyanate-reactive compositions, rigid PUR-PIR foams made using such foam-forming compositions, and methods for producing such foams, including use of such foams as insulation in discontinuous foam panel applications. The isocyanate-reactive composition includes a polyol blend, a blowing agent composition, and a tertiary amine catalyst. The polyol blend includes: (1) an aromatic polyester polyol having a functionality of 1.5 to less than 2.5 and an OH number of 150 to 360 mg KOH/g; (2) an aromatic polyester polyol having a functionality of at least 2.5 and an OH number greater than 360 mg KOH/g, which is present in an amount of at least 10% by weight, based on the total weight of the aromatic polyester polyol in the polyol blend; and (3) an amine-initiated polyether polyol having an OH number of at least 500 mg KOH/g and a functionality of 2.5 to 4. The blowing agent composition includes a hydrochlorofluoroolefin and a carbon dioxide generating chemical blowing agent.

Polymeric materials with improved environmental durability

Polymer composite materials and methods of preparation are discussed. The composite material may comprise a polyurethane foam and a plurality of inorganic particles dispersed in the polyurethane foam. The composite material may have moisture movement properties, such that (a) a sample of the composite material having a length of 48 inches has a moisture movement of less than 0.15% along the length, and/or (b) a sample having a length of 6 inches has a moisture movement of less than 0.8% along the length, when submerged in 45° C. distilled water for 14 days.
