The present invention relates to an aqueous coating composition which has excellent storage stability, while being capable of forming a coating film that exhibits excellent chipping resistance and excellent finish appearance in a dust part and in a film formation part. The present invention provides an aqueous coating composition which contains (A) a urethane resin that is obtained from constituents including (a1) a polyisocyanate component and (a2) a polyol component containing (a2-1) a polyether polyol and (a2-2) a polycarbonate polyol, (B) at least one hydroxyl group-containing resin that is selected from among (B1) hydroxyl group-containing acrylic resins and (B2) hydroxyl group-containing polyester resins, (C) an organic solvent that has a solubility parameter within the range of from 8.8 to 10.1, and (D) water, wherein based on 100 parts by mass of the resin solid content in the aqueous coating composition, the content of the urethan resin (A) is within the range of from 60 to 85 parts by mass and the content of the organic solvent (C) is within the range of from 5 to 30 parts by mass.

A method for alcoholising and hydrolysing polyurethane (PUR) materials made from at least one polyol compound and at least one toluene diisocyanate based compound; wherein the method comprises the following steps: contacting the polyurethane material with at least one alcoholising compound, thereby forming a reaction mixture (M.sub.0) and allowing the polyurethane material and the alcoholising compound to react in said reaction mixture (M.sub.0), thereby forming a mixture (M); allowing the mixture (M) to separate into at least an upper phase and a lower phase, wherein phase (A) and phase (B) are two immiscible phases; subjecting phase (B) to at least one hydrolysis step, thereby forming a phase (B1); wherein the at least one alcoholising compound is characterized by a melting point of lower than 200° C.; wherein the at least one alcoholising compound is characterized by a hydroxyl functionality of at least 2; and with the proviso that the at least one alcoholising compound is not glycerol.

There is provided an erosion protective polyurethane elastomer produced from a polyurethane composition with a polyisocyanate component and an isocyanate-reactive component. The polyisocyanate component has a first isocyanate-terminated prepolymer obtained from the reaction of a first polyol with 1,4-bis(isocyanatomethyl cyclohexane) (1,4-H6XDI) or with a mixture of 1,4-H6XDI and a second aliphatic diisocyanate, an aromatic diisocyanate, and/or an arylalkyl diisocyanate, with at least 50 wt. % of diisocyanate used to produce the prepolymer is aliphatic diisocyanate. The isocyanate-reactive component has at least two low molecular weight (Mw<400 g/mol) diols and a second polyol with hydroxyl groups to react with the prepolymer to produce a polyurethane elastomer. The polyurethane composition having a molar ratio of NCO/OH in the range of 1.00-1.50; whereby said polyurethane composition is curable to produce an elastomer having a mechanical strength >20 MPa, an elongation at break >500%, a tensile set <30%, and hydrolytic stability.

Foamed pellets contain a thermoplastic polyurethane obtainable or obtained by a process. The process involves reacting a polyol composition (PZ-1) containing at least one hydroxy functionalized polyol (P1) with a maximum of 20% of primary hydroxyl groups with a polyisocyanate (I1), to obtain a polyol composition (PZ-2) containing a prepolymer (PP-1). The process then involves reacting the polyol composition (PZ-2) containing the prepolymer (PP-1) with a composition (C2) containing a chain extender (CE) with a molecular weight<500 g/mol. Foamed pellets are obtained or obtainable by the process. The foamed pellets can be used for the production of a molded body.

A polyurethane composition is provided. The polyurethane composition comprises (A) a polyurethane-prepolymer prepared by reacting at least one polyisocyanate compound with a first polyol component; and (B) a second polyol component; wherein at least one of the first polyol component and the second polyol component comprises an ester/ether random copolymer polyol synthesized by reacting a starting material polyether polyol with at least one monomeric polyhydric alcohol and at least one monomeric multifunctional carboxylic acid or anhydride thereof. The polyurethane foam prepared by using the polyurethane composition can achieve inhibited internal heat buildup, high thermal stability, superior tear strength, enhanced abrasion resistance and good hydrolysis resistance. A polyurethane product prepared with said foam, a method for preparing the polyurethane foam and a method for improving the performance property of the polyurethane foam are also provided.
