This invention relates to a coating composition. The coating composition may include hydrophobized silica particles, a film-forming binder, and a solvent. The hydrophobized silica particles comprise porous silica particles having a pore diameter of about 80 or more which have been treated to form a hydrophobic coating on a surface of the porous silica particles.

A rubber composition for a hollow ball includes a base rubber and an inorganic filler. A weight reduction rate TGA.sub.650 from room temperature to 650° C. and a weight reduction rate TGA.sub.850 from room temperature to 850° C. of the rubber composition are measured under an air atmosphere by thermogravimetry conforming to JIS K0129. The weight reduction rate TGA.sub.650 of the rubber composition is not less than 63% and not greater than 99%. A difference (TGA.sub.850−TGA.sub.650) between the weight reduction rates TGA.sub.850 and TGA.sub.650 of the rubber composition is not less than 0% and not greater than 7%. A hollow ball 2 includes a hollow core 4 formed from the rubber composition.

Disclosed is a thermoplastic resin composition, a method of preparing the same, and a molded article including the same, including a thermoplastic resin composition including 100 parts by weight of a base resin (A) including a vinyl cyanide compound-conjugated diene compound-aromatic vinyl compound graft copolymer (A-1) and an aromatic vinyl compound-vinyl cyanide compound copolymer (A-2); 0.1 to 32 parts by weight of a polymer (B) having a weight average molecular weight of greater than 500,000 g/mol and containing an unshared electron pair; 0.1 to 5 parts by weight of an inorganic antibacterial agent (C) including one or more carriers selected from the group consisting of phosphate glass, silica gel, calcium phosphate, and zirconium sodium phosphate; and 0.2 to 10 parts by weight of zinc oxide (D) having a BET surface area of 28 m.sup.2/g or more, a method of preparing the thermoplastic resin composition, and a molded article including the thermoplastic resin composition.

A spherical silica powder which, when heated from 25° C. up to 1000° C. at a rate of 30° C./min, desorbs water molecules in an amount of 0.01 mmol/g or less at 500° C. to 1000° C., and which has a specific surface area of 1 to 30 m.sup.2/g.

A polymer matrix composite includes a porous polymeric network structure; and a plurality of acoustically active particles distributed within the polymeric network structure. The weight fraction of acoustically active particles is between 0.80 and 0.99, based on the total weight of the polymer matrix composite. A polycarbonate composition comprising: (A) a polycarbonate; (B) an acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer in an amount of 0 to 15 wt % by weight, based on 100 wt % by weight of the total amount of the components (A) to (D); (C) inorganic filler in an amount of 19 to 33% by weight, wherein talc is contained in an amount of 13 to 33% by weight, based on 100% by weight of the total amount of the components (A) to (D); (D) an organic phosphorus compound-based flame retardant, the component (D) being present in an amount of >2.5 to <7.5% by weight, based on 100% by weight of the total amount of the components (A) to (D); and (E) a fluorine-containing anti-dripping agent; wherein the talc has a specific surface area of 4 to 18 m.sup.2/g, as measured by B.E.T. method in accordance with DIN ISO 9277:2014-01; the talc has a median particle diameter D.sub.50 of 3 to 18 μm, as measured by laser diffraction method. A molded article prepared from the polycarbonate composition, and the use of the polycarbonate composition in the manufacture of chassis or frame in the parts of electrical, electronic and information technology applications.

Graphene as additive for rubber compounds and products

The introduction of graphene as an additive in rubber compounds is disclosed. The product shows increased barrier protection for tire innerliners, with no tradeoffs in other characteristics. A rubber compound is disclosed herein including butyl rubber and graphene plate, wherein the graphene plate has a thickness of less than about 3.2 nm, a particle size of between about 50 nm and about 10 μm, and contains greater than about 95% carbon.
