WATER-SOLUBLE ESTERIFIED CELLULOSE ETHERS
1. An esterified cellulose ether which i) comprises groups of the formula C(O)RCOOH or a combination of aliphatic monovalent acyl groups and groups of the formula C(O)RCOOH, wherein R is a divalent hydrocarbon group, ii) has a weight average molecular weight M.sub.w of up to 70,000 Dalton, iii) has a degree of neutralization of the groups C(O)RCOOH of not more than 0.4, and iv) has a solubility in water of at least 2.0 weight percent at 2 C., is useful for preparing enteric capsules.
Esterified cellulose ethers of very high molecular weight
Esterified cellulose ethers which comprise (i) groups of the formula C(O)RCOOA or (ii) a combination of aliphatic monovalent acyl groups and groups of the formula C(O)RCOOA, wherein R is a divalent aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon group and A is hydrogen or a cation, which have a viscosity of up 50 mPa.Math.s, measured as a 10 wt % solution of the esterified cellulose ether in acetone at 20 C., and a weight average molecular weight M.sub.w of at least 220,000 Dalton, or which have a viscosity of up 100 mPa.Math.s, measured as a 10 wt % solution of the esterified cellulose ether in acetone at 20 C., and a weight average molecular weight M.sub.w of at least 310,000 Dalton are useful for preparing solid dispersions comprising drugs.

DISPERSION COMPRISING AN ESTERIFIED CELLULOSE ETHER
An aqueous composition useful for producing capsules shells comprises a) at least one dispersed esterified cellulose ether comprising (i) groups of the formula C(O)RCOOA or (ii) a combination of aliphatic monovalent acyl groups and groups of the formula C(O)RCOOA, wherein R is a divalent aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon group and A is hydrogen or a cation, and b) from 0.05 to 20 percent of at least one salt of a fatty acid, based on the weight of the dispersed esterified cellulose ether, wherein the median particle size, d50, of the dispersed esterified cellulose ether particles is up to 7 micrometers, such median particle size (d50) being the size at which 50 mass percent of the particles have a smaller equivalent diameter and 50 mass percent have a larger equivalent diameter.
DISPERSION COMPRISING AN ESTERIFIED CELLULOSE ETHER

Bulk material cover compositions and methods of applying
A cover material for a bulk material pile and method for applying the cover material are disclosed. The cover composition is free of fiber, clay, cement and pozzolanic material and comprises: 95 to 99.75 percent by weight water, 0.25 to 5 percent by weight of a water dispersible cellulosic polymer; and sufficient acid to maintain the pH of the solution between 1.0 and 6.0. The method for applying the cover material includes: providing the cover composition, which contains 95 to 99.75 percent by weight water, 0.25 to 5 percent by weight of a water dispersible cellulosic polymer; and sufficient acid to maintain the pH of the solution between 1.0 and 6.0; applying the cover composition onto a bulk material pile; and allowing the composition to harden to provide a cover to at least a portion of the bulk material pile.

Provided is a nonaqueous binder for electrodes or separators, which is used in a lithium ion battery that has excellent cycle life characteristics at high temperatures. A nonaqueous binder for electrodes or separators of lithium ion batteries, which is obtained by complexing cellulose nanofibers and a thermoplastic fluororesin, and which is characterized in that the cellulose nanofibers have a fiber size (diameter) of from 0.002 m to 1 m (inclusive), a fiber length of from 0.5 m to 10 mm (inclusive), and an aspect ratio ((fiber length of cellulose nanofibers)/(fiber diameter of cellulose nanofibers)) of from 2 to 100,000 (inclusive).
