Packaging films with improved hot-tack performance
The present invention is directed to hot-fill/retort packaging films having a sealant layer composition comprising a first propylene-ethylene copolymer, a second propylene-ethylene copolymer and a polyethylene. Hot-fill/retort packaging films are provided herein having a sealant layer composition that exhibits an ultimate hot tack within a range from 88 N/m to 876 H/m (0.5 lb./in to 5 lb./in) at a temperature within the range from 116° C. to 182° C. (240° F. to 360° F.).
Gas Barrier Resin Composition, Method for Producing Gas Barrier Resin Composition, and Molded Product
Provided are: a gas barrier resin composition having sufficient long-run workability and superior gas barrier properties which compare favorably to those of fossil fuel-derived resins, while containing a biomass-derived raw material; a multilayer structure in which the gas barrier resin is used; and a method for producing such a gas barrier resin composition. The gas barrier resin composition contains at least one type of saponified ethylene-vinyl ester copolymer, wherein of ethylene and a vinyl ester, which are raw materials of the at least one type of saponified ethylene-vinyl ester copolymer, a part is derived from biomass, and a remainder is derived from a fossil fuel.
SEALANT FILM
The present invention provides a film and/or a packaging bag from which contents that may be viscous are easily brought out, and exhibiting enough heat seal properties as well as superior anti-blocking effect and slipperiness. The sealant film has a seal layer consisting of a resin composition including the following (a) and (b), and the film satisfies the following (1) to (3). (a) Polyolefin-based resin; and (b) Silylated polyolefin resin, (1) An abundance ratio (Si/C) of silicon atoms Si to carbon atoms C included in the seal layer of 0.001 or more and 0.02 or less; (2) An abundance ratio (Si/C) of silicon atoms Si to carbon atoms C present at a surface of the seal layer of 0.05 or more and 0.2 or less; and (3) An arithmetic average roughness Ra of a surface of the seal layer of 0.1 μm or more and 0.5 μm or less
POLYPROPYLENE COMPOSITION
New polypropylene composition which combines low sealing initiation temperature (SIT), low overall migration, good optical properties, like low haze and good retortability, its use and articles made therefrom.
BRANCHED ORGANOSILICON COMPOUND, METHOD OF PREPARING SAME, AND RELATED COMPOSITIONS
A branched organosilicon compound (“compound”) having the general formula (R1).sub.3SiX—NR.sup.2-D-Z(R.sup.7).sub.a is provided. In the formula: each R.sup.1 is selected from R and —OSi(R.sup.4).sub.3, with the proviso that at least one R.sup.1 is —OSi(R.sup.4).sub.3; where each R.sup.4 is selected from R, —OSi(R.sup.5).sub.3, and —[OSiR.sub.2].sub.mOSiR.sub.3; where each R.sup.5 is selected from R, —OSi(R.sup.6).sub.3, and —[OSiR.sub.2].sub.mOSiR.sub.3; where each R.sup.6 is selected from R and —[OSiR.sub.2].sub.mOSiR.sub.3; with the proviso that at least one of R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 is —[OSiR.sub.2].sub.mOSiR.sub.3; where each R is independently a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl group; and where 0≤m≤100; each of X and D is an independently selected divalent linking group; each R.sup.2 and R.sup.7 is an independently selected substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl group or H; Z is O or N; and subscript a is the valency of Z. Also provided is a method of preparing the compound and a composition including the compound.
Water Soluble Film and Articles Comprising Same
A water-soluble film for packaging oxidizing agents including a polyvinyl alcohol resin and a plasticizer, the polyvinyl alcohol resin comprising about 70% to about 100% of a polyvinyl alcohol copolymer including a maleate unit, wherein (a) when the polyvinyl alcohol copolymer comprises less than 100% of the polyvinyl alcohol resin, the balance of the resin comprises a polyvinyl alcohol homopolymer; (b) when the polyvinyl alcohol copolymer comprises 100% of the polyvinyl alcohol resin and the film comprises a starch, the plasticizer comprises sorbitol and glycerol; and (c) when the polyvinyl alcohol resin comprises a blend of polyvinyl alcohol polymers and the polyvinyl alcohol copolymer is provided in an amount in a range of about 70% to about 90%, by weight, and the film comprises starch, then the film does not include sorbitol and/or glycerol; and the film is characterized by an elongation at break of at least about 25%.
Polyethylene Blends and Films
Provided herein are polyethylene films made of the polyethylene blends having improved properties, particularly in Elmendorf tear and puncture resistance. The polyethylene blends include two primary polyethylene blends.
