The invention refers to an asphaltic mixture conditioner comprising a bitumen, a polyol, a surfactant, a mineral acid and water. The invention further refers to a conditioned asphaltic paving mixture comprising bitumen, aggregate and the said asphaltic mixture conditioner.
The asphaltic mixture conditioner, used as an additive, solves problems of the prior art related to bituminous paving composition, which demand a prompt use of the asphalt compositions in situ. The additive contributes to preparation of a conditioned asphaltic paving mixture which may be storage at ambient temperature for longer periods, wherein the additive, at ambient temperature, may be added into a mix of aggregate and bitumen. Before being applied onto a surface, it is heated to a temperature range from 130° C. to 170° C., wherein all the necessary features to properly be applied onto the surface are maintained.
BINDER COMPOSITION FOR IMPROVED TACK COAT AND STRESS ABSORBING MEMBRANE INTERLAYER APPLICATION FOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION
A binder composition for asphalt pavements that includes: an asphalt binder; an elastomeric polymer; a wax modifier; and optionally at least one of: i) fumed silica or fumed alumina; and ii) a saponified fatty acid and a resin acid gelling compound. The composition is applied as a tack coat and/or a stress absorbing membrane interlayer and is non-tracking.
PETROCOKE AND EXTRACT-DOPED MODIFIED BITUMEN COMPOSITION FOR USE IN PRODUCTION OF ASPHALT AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME
A modified bitumen composition used in asphalt-coated roads as a binding raw material having petrocoke, a derivative of carbon based crude oil, and extract, a base oil unit by-product, as additives, and to a method of producing the same. The modified bitumen composition of the invention contains at least 55% by weight of bitumen with a penetration in the range of 40 to 110 as per EN 1426 standard, and 1%-40% by weight of petrocoke with a particle size preferably less than 300 micrometers, and 2% to 5% by weight of extract, a base oil unit by-product, as additives. Determination of the amount of the additives petrocoke and extract to be added to the bitumen, optimum values of such parameters as mixing temperature and mixing rate to distribute in the bitumen homogenously and the conditions at which the modified bitumen may be stored and/or transported without losing its improved properties.
Use of sterols from animal waste as an additive in asphalt binder
Disclosed are asphalt binder compositions that contain at least one sterol or stanol additive, or blends of sterols and stanol additives, wherein the sterol or stanol additive is derived from an animal waste or manure source such as swine manure. These sterol and stanol-based additives improve various rheological properties of the asphalt binder compositions showing reduced and/or mitigated aging characteristics.
ROAD BITUMEN PELLETS
Bitumen pellets including at least one chemical additive chosen from: a compound of general formula (I): R1-(COOH)z in which R1 is a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon-based chain including from 4-68 carbon atoms, and z is an integer ranging from a compound of general formula (II): R—(NH)nCONH—(X)m-NHCO(NH)n-R′ in which: R and R′ are identical or different, contain a saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched, cyclic or acyclic hydrocarbon-based chain having from 1-22 carbon atoms and optionally including heteroatoms and/or rings having from 3-12 atoms and/or heterocycles having from 3-12 atoms; X contains a saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched, cyclic or acyclic hydrocarbon-based chain having from 1-22 carbon atoms and optionally including one or more heteroatoms and/or rings having from 3-12 atoms and/or heterocycles having from 3-12 atoms; n and m are integers having, independently of one another, a value of 0 or of 1.
