N-arylacetoacearylide pigment compositions may be contacted with an oxidant in an aqueous phase to decrease the amount(s) of second aryl amine and/or N-arylacetoacetamide that are present in the N-arylacetoacetarylide pigment composition. The N-arylacetoacetarylide pigment compositions may be present in a pigment dispersion, which may be stably maintained following oxidation.

The present invention provides a polymeric dispersant that is to be blended in an aqueous pigment dispersion in which a pigment is finely dispersed in a stable manner and at a high level, the aqueous pigment dispersion enabling preparation of an aqueous inkjet ink capable of recording an image excellent in adhesiveness and durability on plastic media and textiles. The polymeric dispersant is a polymer that includes a constituent unit (i) derived from styrene, a constituent unit (ii) derived from methyl methacrylate and/or the like, a constituent unit (iii) derived from 2-ethylhexyl methacrylate and/or the like, a constituent unit (iv) derived from 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate and/or the like, and a constituent unit (v) derived from methacrylic acid, and at least part of carboxy groups is neutralized with an alkali.

The issue of the present invention is to provide a disazo pigment in which the polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) content in addition to the primary aromatic amine (PAA) content is reduced. The present invention provides a pigment composition containing a disazo pigment, an alkylamine that has an alkyl group having a carbon number of 8 or more, and a poly(oxyethylene) alkyl ester that has an alkyl group having a carbon number of 8 or more. Preferably, the disazo pigment includes at least one disazo pigment selected from a group consisting of C.I. Pigment Yellow 83, C.I. Pigment Yellow 13, and C.I. Pigment Yellow 14.

A dye composition includes: a water-insoluble dye; a specific dispersant for dispersing the water-insoluble dye; an alkylene oxide adduct of (poly)glycerin; and water, in which the specific dispersant contains a copolymer of a styrene compound and maleic acid, or a urethane resin, the alkylene oxide adduct of (poly)glycerin contains a propylene oxide group, a ratio (B/A) of a content B of the specific dispersant to a content A of the water-insoluble dye is 0.40 to 0.75, and a content of the alkylene oxide adduct of (poly)glycerin is 0.05 to 1.00 mass % with respect to a total amount of the dye composition.
