LEUCO POLYMERS AS BLUING AGENTS IN LAUNDRY CARE COMPOSITIONS
A leuco polymer includes a leuco monomer and an alkene. The leuco polymer has a molecular weight of at least 500 and is obtainable by polymerization of the leuco monomer and one or more alkene co-monomers. The leuco monomer consists of an alkene covalently bound to a leuco moiety and the leuco monomer has a molar extinction coefficient at a wavelength in the range 400 to 750nm of less than 1000 M.sup.1cm.sup.1. The alkene monomer(s) have a molar extinction coefficient at a wavelength in the range 400 to 750nm that is less than 100 M.sup.1cm.sup.1. Methods of making the leuco polymer, laundry care compositions comprising the leuco polymer and methods of treating textiles with such laundry care compositions.
LEUCO POLYMERS AS BLUING AGENTS IN LAUNDRY CARE COMPOSITIONS
A leuco polymer comprising an alkoxylated polyethyleneimine covalently bound to a leuco moiety, wherein at least a first portion of nitrogen atoms of the alkoxylated polyethyleneimine have covalently bound thereto a leuco moiety; at least a second portion of nitrogen atoms of the alkoxylated polyethyleneimine have covalently bound thereto a moiety selected from the group consisting of oxyalkylene moieties, polyoxyalkylene moieties, and mixtures thereof; and at least a third portion of nitrogen atoms of the alkoxylated polyethyleneimine have covalently bound thereto a moiety selected from the group consisting of an alkylene chain, an alkylene chain having covalently bound thereto a phenyl or naphthyl group, and mixtures thereof. Methods of making the leuco polymer, laundry care compositions comprising the leuco polymer and methods of treating textiles with such laundry care compositions.

Whitening agents for cellulosic substrates
The present application relates to novel whitening agents for cellulosic substrates. The whitening agents are comprised of at least two constituents: at least one chromophore constituent and at least one polymeric constituent. Suitable chromophore components generally fluoresce blue, red, violet, or purple color when exposed to light, or they may absorb light to reflect these same shades. This disclosure also relates to laundry care compositions including but not limited to liquid and/or powder laundry detergent formulations and rinse added fabric softening (RAFS) compositions that comprise such whitening agents.

R.sup.2 represents a monovalent substituent, m represents an integer of 1 to 13, n represents an integer of 2 to 14, m+n represents an integer of 3 to 15, L.sup.1 (in a case where L.sup.1 represents a single bond, D) and X are separated by Y by a distance of three or more carbon atoms, and at least one of D, L.sup.1, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, X, or Y has an acid group.
