Pigment Compositions
The instant disclosure relates to a composition for topical application to the skin comprising a first pearlescent uncoated pigment having an average particle size of 25 um or less; a second pearlescent pigment having an average particle size of 25 um or less, completely or partially coated with one or more layers of metal oxides; a first mica having an average size of 42 um or less, completely or partially coated with one or more layers of red iron oxide; and a second mica having an average size of 25 um or less, completely or partially coated with one or more layers of titanium dioxide. It also relates to methods of using said compositions.
EFFECT PIGMENTS
Effect pigments based on Al.sub.2O.sub.3 flakes with high weather resistance and less photoactivity and to their use thereof in paints, industrial coatings, automotive coatings, printing inks, cosmetic formulations. The effect pigments have a ratio of the amount by weight of Al.sub.2O.sub.3 of the Al.sub.2O.sub.3 flake and the amount by weight of the metal oxide(s) of the coating layer(s) in the range of from 27:73 to 83:17 based on the total weight of the effect pigment.

Effect pigments
The present invention relates to silver-colored effect pigments having a strong sparkle effect based on Al2O3 flakes and to the use thereof in paints, button pastes, automotive paints, automotive refinish paints, powder coatings, printing inks, security printing inks, plastics, ceramic materials, glasses, paper, for coating seed, in security applications, as dopant for the laser marking of plastics and papers, as additive for the laser welding of plastics, in cosmetic formulations and for the preparation of pigment preparations and dry preparations.
COATED METAL EFFECT PIGMENTS, METHOD OF PRODUCTION AND USE THEREOF
This invention involves a coated flaky metal effect pigment comprising a metal effect flake as substrate coated by the following consecutive coating sequences: a) optionally a discontinuous or a continuous layer of Mo-oxide, b1) an inorganic metal oxide layer comprising mainly SiO.sub.2, c1) a hybrid layer comprising SiO.sub.2 modified by a diphenyl silane, a phenylsilane or mixtures thereof or c2) a hybrid layer comprising SiO.sub.2 modified by a diphenyl silane, a phenylsilane or mixtures thereof, b2) an inorganic metal oxide layer comprising mainly SiO.sub.2, and d) optionally a further top-coat of organofunctional silanes, titanates, aluminates or zirconates.
Sunscreen multilayer particle
The present invention relates to a multilayer UV filter particle, comprising: an odd number of alternating layers of high and low refractive index materials, wherein each layer has a refractive index that differs from that of adjacent layers by at least 0.2, the total number of layers is at least 9, and the particle does not contain a substrate. The particle according to the present invention can have a good UV filtering effect.
Special effects with mixtures of interference pigments
A method of producing mixtures of interference pigments having special effects comprises mixing at least one large particle size interference pigment with at least one normal size interference pigment of predetermined colors and in proportions desired to obtain a unique effect.
Pigment/frit mixtures
Frits or frit mixtures with pearlescent pigments for materials, such as ceramic glazes, which are stable above 1000 C.
INTERFERENCE PIGMENTS ON THE BASIS OF GLASS FLAKES
The present invention relates to pigments, comprising a plate-like substrate of glass having an average thickness of <1 m, especially of from 20 nm to 400 nm, and
(a) a dielectric material, especially a metal oxide, having a high index of refraction; or
(a) a metal layer, especially a thin semi-transparent metal layer;
a process for their production and their use in paints, ink-jet printing, for dyeing textiles, for pigmenting coatings (paints), printing inks, plastics, cosmetics, glazes for ceramics and glass.

Disclosed are pigment powders containing only coated BiOCl flakes, which flakes area) BiOCl flakes having a coating containing yellow iron oxide Fe.sub.2O.sub.3*xH.sub.2O, optionally a colorant, optionally an adjuvant, and optionally SiO.sub.2, b) BiOCl flakes having a coating containing SiO.sub.2, optionally a colorant, and optionally an adjuvant, c) BiOCl flakes having a coating containing a colorant, SiO.sub.2, optionally yellow iron oxide Fe.sub.2O.sub.3*xH.sub.2O, and optionally an adjuvant, or d) BiOCl flakes having a coating containing Fe.sub.3O.sub.4 and optionally SiO.sub.2, to a process for the preparation of the pigment powders, and to the use thereof especially in cosmetic formulations.
