The present invention relates to silver-coloured effect pigments having a strong sparkle effect based on Al2O3 flakes and to the use thereof in paints, button pastes, automotive paints, automotive refinish paints, powder coatings, printing inks, security printing inks, plastics, ceramic materials, glasses, paper, for coating seed, in security applications, as dopant for the laser marking of plastics and papers, as additive for the laser welding of plastics, in cosmetic formulations and for the preparation of pigment preparations and dry preparations.
Weather-resistant pearlescent pigments, process for the production and use thereof
The present invention relates to weather-resistant pearlescent pigment, comprising a coated or uncoated platelet-shaped substrate which is selected from the group consisting of synthetic mica platelets, glass platelets, SiO.sub.2 platelets, Al.sub.2O.sub.3 platelets, synthetic boehmite platelets, BiOCl platelets and mixtures thereof, a chromophoric coating with at least one highly refractive metal oxide, and a top layer, wherein the top layer comprises the following layer sequence:
a) a first layer made of tin oxide and/or tin hydroxide and/or hydrated tin oxide, b) a second cerium-containing layer which comprises cerium oxide and/or cerium hydroxide and/or hydrated cerium oxide, c) an organic-chemical coating applied to the cerium-containing layer which contains oligomeric silanes or consists of them, wherein the oligomeric silanes have one or more amino groups and the oligomeric silanes are chemically bonded with the cerium-containing layer. The invention further relates to a process for the production and use of these pearlescent pigments.
EFFECT PIGMENT REALIZING THE SAME COLOR AT DIFFERENT VIEW ANGLES AND METHOD FOR PREPARING THE SAME
Disclosed are an effect pigment that realizes substantially the same color at different view angles and a method for preparing the same. The effect includes a platelet-shaped substrate; and a pigment particle layer composed of pigment particles attached to at least a portion of a surface of the platelet-shaped substrate, wherein the pigment particles of the pigment particle layer are discontinuously positioned on the surface of the platelet-shaped substrate in an island manner.
PREPARATION METHOD AND APPLICATION OF PEARLESCENT PIGMENT
The present invention relates to a method for preparing pearlescent pigment through metal oxide coating based on a sheet-like substrate, and the obtained pearlescent pigment. The present invention further relates to a method for preparing pearlescent pigment through coating a sheet-like substrate by hydrolyzing metal salt under an acid condition, wherein a pH value is adjusted by using inorganics such as MgO, MgOH or CaCO.sub.3 that does not dissolve in water but can dissolve through reacting with an acid. According to the method, no free metal oxide is generated when the metal salt is hydrolyzed, so that the production cost is reduced, product quality is improved, problems possibly generated in an application process of the product are avoided, and a production process is more environment-friendly.
COLORED PLATELETS
A colored platelet including a substrate, an adhesion layer, a color pigment layer, and a secure layer and a method of producing the colored platelet are described. The disclosed colored platelet can provide a superior bright color effect in a coating composition. The color effect can depend on the material used for the substrate and/or the color pigment layer.

METHOD FOR PREPARING A COLORED PARTICULATE MATERIAL BY HETEROGENEOUS NUCLEATION
The invention relates to a method for preparing colored materials by heterogeneous nucleation of metallic nanoparticles, said nanoparticles exhibiting optical properties based on the surface plasmon phenomenon. The invention also relates to said colored materials obtained, as well as compositions comprising them. In particular, the method for preparing colored particulate material by heterogeneous nucleation notably comprises mixing a suspension at room temperature comprising: at least one salt of a metallic element, said metallic element exhibiting a plasmonic effect, at least one reducing agent, and at least one particulate substrate, said suspension mixture forming a colored particulate material.
