Process for powder coating of objects
In a powder coating process, a primer step is implemented prior to electrostatically applying the powder coating, either in advance of preheating the object to be coated or subsequent thereto, depending upon the selection of materials used in the object to be coated, the primer material being diluted fabric softener applied in a fine mist spray or fog to the object.
METHOD FOR MAKING HIGH LUBRICITY ABRADABLE MATERIAL AND ABRADABLE COATING
An abradable powder composition is includes a metal component, a lubricant component, and a polymer component. A portion of the metal component is wrapped in the lubricant component to achieve high lubricity and abradability. The abradable powder composition can be used to form an abradable seal coating provided for use in a turbo machinery having a housing and a wheel having multiple blades. The housing houses the wheel which rotates therein. The seal coating is formed on the inner walls of housing adjacent where the wheel blades pass during their rotation. When the wheel is rotated such that the blades contact the seal coating, it is abraded to form a close fit gap. The abradable seal coating preferably does not produce significant wear of the blade tips or transfer abradable material significantly to the blade tips upon being abraded.

COMPOSITE MATERIALS WITH TAILORED ELECTROMAGNETIC SPECTRAL PROPERTIES, STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS FOR ENHANCED THERMAL MANAGEMENT, AND METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING THEREOF
Disclosed is a method to produce composite materials, which contain customized mixes of nano- and/or micro-particles with tailored electromagnetic spectral properties, structural elements based thereon, in particular layers, but also bulk materials including inhomogeneous bulk materials. In some embodiments the IR-reflectivity is enhanced predominantly independently of reflectivity for visible wavelength. The enhanced IR-reflectivity is achieved by combining spectral properties from a plurality of nano- and/or micro-particles of distinct size distribution, shape distribution, chemical composition, crystal structure, and crystallinity distribution. This enables to approximate desired target spectra better than know solutions, which comprise only a single type of particles and/or an uncontrolled natural size distribution. Furthermore disclosed are methods of manufacturing such materials, including ceramics, clay, and concrete, as well as applications related to design and construction of buildings or other confined spaces.
Phase Change Barriers and Methods of Use Thereof
Modified surfaces and methods of use thereof are provided for preventing or delaying onset of phase changes, such as condensation or frost formation. The invention relates to surfaces that increase the energy barrier to or driving force required for nucleation phase changes, such as, but not limited to, condensation and crystallization, and methods of use thereof, such as anti-fog glass applications and prevention of condensation on heat exchangers in systems that only require sensible cooling.
TWO-COAT TWO-BAKE POWDER COATING STRUCTURE AND APPLICATION METHOD THEREOF
The present invention relates to a two-coat two-bake powder coating structure and application method thereof that mainly utilizes high concentrated migratory pigment and dye powder in the primer layer that osmotically diffuses into the finish layer of colorless powder during baking after the finish layer undergoes the electrostatic spray process. The principle is to apply a second baking process to the migratory pigment and dye powder, causing the molecular chains of the primer layer to become loose. As a result, the small molecules of the migratory pigment and dye powder can uniformly move from the primer layer into the finish layer across the interface between the primer layer and the finish layer through osmosis and diffusion. After the finish layer cools down, the migratory pigment and dye powder is solidified within the finish layer so that the chromatic aberration of the surface coating layer is improved.
