The invention relates to a composition forming an insulating layer, which composition contains a binder, which is based on a compound having electron-deficient carbon multiple bonds and a carbanion-forming compound. By means of the composition according to the invention, the expansion rate of which is relatively high, coatings having the layer thickness required for the particular fire resistance time can be applied easily and quickly, wherein the layer thickness can be reduced to a minimum and nevertheless a great insulating effect can be achieved. The composition according to the invention is suitable especially for fire protection, in particular as a coating of steel components, such as supports, beams and truss members, for increasing the fire resistance time.

Fire impregnation substance is produced by polymerization of non-toxic components in such a way that pentaerythritol (5% to 90% of the mass) and ammonium polyphosphate (5% to 90% of the mass) are added to the water (30% to 96% of the mass) with temperature from 5 C. to 98 C. and the solution is mixed until it is pure. The mutual ratio of the components of pentaerythritol and ammonium polyphosphate can range from 1:18 to 18:1 During the production of the cellulose product or fibrous wood products such as chipboards or particle boards the wood chips or sawmill shavings are dipped in the impregnation substance before connecting and pressing, or the impregnation substance is added to adhesive or binder, respectively, which coats the chips or shavings before pressing into desired product. The cores of microintumescence inside the material, mainly on surfaces of the original chips, shavings or fibers subsequently produce gradually activate layers preventing the permeation of the fire's effects.

Intumescent composition

An intumescent composition which comprises a polymer selected from a silane-terminated polyurethane or a silane-terminated polyether, a plasticizer that is compatible with the polymer and an intumescent ingredient. Processes of forming a cured intumescent substance, and methods of fire protecting a building are also provided.
