USE OF SURFACTANT FORMULATIONS COMPRISING LONG-CHAIN ALCOHOLS IN AQUEOUS POLYURETHANE DISPERSIONS
The use of surfactant formulations comprising long-chain alcohols as additives in aqueous polymer dispersions for production of porous polymer coatings, preferably for production of porous polyurethane coatings, is described.
SOLUBLE CORROSION RESISTANT SOL-GEL
Aspects described herein generally relate to a sol-gel that is the reaction product of an organosilane, a metal alkoxide, an acid, and a thio-lanthanide salt having a solubility of about 1 gram or greater per gram of sol-gel at 23 C. The thio-lanthanide salt includes a cation and a thio-ligand. The cation can be lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium, promethium, samarium, europium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium, holmium, erbium, thulium, ytterbium, lutetium, scandium, yttrium, cobalt, calcium, strontium, barium, and zirconium. In another aspect, a component, such as a vehicle component, includes a metal substrate and a sol-gel disposed on the metal substrate. Methods can include forming a sol-gel by mixing a metal alkoxide and an acid to form a first mixture; mixing with the first mixture an organosilane to form a second mixture; and mixing with the second mixture a lanthanide salt to form a third mixture.

Containers and other articles comprising the coatings and methods of making such containers and other articles are also provided. The invention further provides compositions including the adhesion promoter, which have utility in a variety of coating end uses, including, for example, valve and pipe coatings.
Si—O—N—P related fabrication methods, surface treatments and uses thereof
Disclosed are compositions, methods and processes for fabricating and using a device or other implement including a surface or surfaces having a nanoscale or microscale layer or coating of SiONP. These coatings and/or layers may be continuous, on the surface or discontinuous (e.g., patterned, grooved), and may be provided on silica surfaces, metal (e.g., titanium), ceramic, and combination/hybrid materials. Methods of producing an implantable device, such as a load-bearing or non-load-bearing device, such as a bone or other structural implant device (load-bearing), are also presented. Craniofacial, osteogenic and disordered bone regeneration (osteoporosis) uses and applications of devices that include at least one surface that is treated to include a nanoscale or microscale layer or coating of SiONP are also provided. Methods of using the treated and/or coated devices to enhance enhanced vascularization and healing at a treated surface of a device in vivo, is also presented.
