A seat connection mechanism having a bracket portion which is metal and includes a pivot area, an opening and a channel. A metal pin portion includes a pin and a stop portion, the pin rests in the pivot area such that the shelf portion inhibits movement of the pin portion along the pin's rotation axis, the pin configured to rotate within the pivot area about a rotation axis. The channel in the bracket portion arranged to pass adjacent and through an area of the center pivot, the channel arranged such that the stop portion of the pin portion are insertable into the channel through the opening at an insertion angle to allow the pin to rest in the pivot area and such that when the pin rotates within the center pivot, the stop portion of the pin portion moves within the bracket and the stop portion is configured to interact with the bracket at one or more predefined positions to stop rotation of the pin portion.

A modular seating kit for producing a modular seating apparatus, comprising one or more rectangular base platforms, at least one connecting bracket, one or more vertical supporting structures, one or more secondary vertical supporting structures, a plurality of fasteners, and one or more support legs, each base platform has a plurality of attachment points adapted to receive the support legs and fasteners, the vertical supporting structures and the secondary vertical supporting structures are adapted to be attached to one of the base platforms to function as backrests or armrests, and two or more of the base platforms are adapted to be linked together using the connecting brackets to provide the modular seating apparatus with expandable seating capacity.

The leg pieces each have an edge such that the edges face each other and the tabs interact with the catches and the tension member is positioned in the opening and the anchor pieces and tension member pull the edges together to hold the tabs against the two catches.

An actuator means for effecting co-ordinated movement of said support sections to reconfigure the chair between a seated position and a sleeping position in which the articulated supporting sections lie in a substantially horizontal plane (H).
