CONVERTIBLE FURNITURE UNIT, SLAT FOR USE IN FORMING A FURNITURE UNIT AND METHOD OF USING A CONVERTIBLE FURNITURE UNIT
The convertible furniture unit comprises a hinge member pivotally linking first and second furniture portions to allow the first and second furniture portions to relatively pivot relative to each other to adopt a number of different angular relative positions, and a locking mechanism to releasably lock the first and second furniture portion in a given angular relative position. The first and second furniture portions each comprise a number of slats that are intermeshed with and are slidable between the slats of the other one of the first and second furniture portions. Each slat comprises a hinge portion pivotally attached to the hinge member, an arm extending away from the hinge portion and a free extremity opposite the hinge portion. The first and second furniture portions are capable of adopting at least:•a first position wherein the arms of the slats of the first furniture portion extend away from the hinge member and through the arms of the slats of the second furniture portion; and•a second position in which the arms of the slats of the first furniture portion extend away from hinge and away from the arms of the slats of the second furniture portion without crossing or extending through the arms of the slats of the second furniture portion. The first and second positions of the first and second furniture portions are both operable for use of the furniture unit by a user.
SUN SHELTER
An adjustable personal sun shelter to overlie a free-standing or integrated sun lounge or deck chair of the kind commonly occupied by a user while sunbathing beside a swimming pool. The adjustable personal sun shelter includes a base and a support structure that suspends a shade canopy in a cantilevered state above an underlying sun lounge at an optimal height to project shade over the sun lounge. The shade canopy is adjustable by a user to vary the amount of sunlight or shade received when occupying the underlying sun lounge. The shade canopy is adjustable by an extendable central member or by two or more parallel extendable side members, to which shade material is fastened. The shade canopy has a moveable leading end and a fixed trailing end. In the operational condition of the sun shelter, the length of the shade canopy can be increased by extending the leading end of the shade canopy relative to the trailing end, or the length can be decreased by retracted the leading end.
Buoyant Pool Float
A buoyant pool float for floating in water is disclosed. In one embodiment, the buoyant pool float includes a hingedly connected upper flotation member and lower flotation member. In a deployed position, the buoyant pool float provides an open unfolded engagement between the upper flotation member and the lower flotation member such that a continuous human reclining surface is provided from the upper end of the upper body to the lower end of the lower body. In a storage position, the buoyant pool float provides a closed folded-flat engagement between the upper flotation member and the lower flotation member such that the lower flotation member is nested against the upper flotation member.
Floating lounge with adjustable support member
A floating lounge comprising an outer, buoyant member surrounding a support member in the form of a panel of material extending forward from the rear of the lounge. The support member wraps around the front end of the lounge and extends back toward the rear of the lounge. Connectors provided on the longitudinal edges of the support member allow the forward-extending portion of the support member to be secured to the rearward-extending portion to form a sling depending between the front and rear sides of the lounge, for supporting the user, and whereby the user may choose among several possible shapes for the support member by appropriately mating the sets of connectors.
Convertible, integral, dining table, coffee table, serving table, desk, bed, bench and beach lounger utilizing a unique hinging system
A convertible, integral, dining table, coffee table, serving table, desk, bed, bench and beach or chaise lounge, consisting of 4 flat deck sections of which one is fixed and 3 are independently inclinable. The unit is supported by 4 pivotable legs, each with height adjustability. The inclination of the deck sections are made possible by a unique hinging system.
CHAIR WITH VARIABLE POSITIONING AND SUPPORT
An adjustable chair frame with a back and seating surfaces that flex to conform to the shape, weight and movement of an occupant is disclosed. The chair form and proportions provide for a recumbent position that disperses the weight of the occupant more evenly, thereby reducing external and internal physiological point loading. The form also provides ergonomic articulation to minimize internal physiological stresses such as neck/back vertebral compression. Eccentric connections driven by a motor assembly allow positioning adjustment of the components of the chair. Additionally, an air pump assembly may be included to automatically adjust one or more air bladders provided on the interior of the chair frame.
DYNAMIC FURNITURE FEATURING PENDULUM-LIKE MOTION
A dynamic furniture system includes a first frame portion; a set of rollers mounted to the first frame portion; a second frame portion including one or more rockers having a roller-interface surface having a curved profile; wherein the set of rollers interface with the roller-interface surface of the rockers such that the second frame portion is moveable relative to the first frame portion; a set of one or more electromagnets mounted to or integrated with the first frame portion or the second frame portion; a set of one or more magnetically-interactive elements mounted to or integrated with a different one of the first frame portion or the second frame portion; and an electronic control system configured to vary a parameter of electrical energy supplied to the set of electromagnets over time to induce back and forth motion of one of the first frame portion or the second frame portion.
