Sol-Gel Coatings for Contact Lenses
A composition for rendering a hydrophobic surface hydrophilic. A hydrophobic binder, typically a silicone compound such as a siloxane, attaches hydrophilic sol-gel particles to the surface, such as hydrophobic regions of a silicone contact lens. Hydrophilic regions are preferably unmodified. The binder attaches to the particles via functional groups, and can autoadhere to the hydrophobic surface. A coating of the composition can be deposited from solution at ambient or room temperature, allowing coating of temperature sensitive substrates. Such coatings can withstand heating (such as for sterilization) in acidic solutions, retaining their hydrophilic properties.
LOW DIELECTRIC CONSTANT CURABLE COMPOSITIONS
Low dielectric constant curable compositions include a first alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer with 12 or more carbon atoms, a crosslinking monomer, a copolymeric additive of a polycarbosilane or a polycarbosiloxane, and at least one initiator. The curable composition is solvent free and inkjet printable. Upon curing the curable composition forms a non-crystalline, optically transparent layer with a dielectric constant of less than or equal to 3.0 at 1 MegaHertz.
UV-curable silicone composition, cured products thereof, and methods of using the same
Various embodiments disclosed related to UV-curable silicone composition, cured products thereof, and methods of using the same. Various embodiments provide a shear-thinning UV-curable silicone composition. The composition can include (A) a mercapto-functional polyorganosiloxane having the unit formula [(CH.sub.3).sub.3SiO.sub.1/2].sub.x[(CH.sub.3).sub.2SiO].sub.y[R(CH.sub.3)SiO].sub.z wherein x is about 0.01 to about 0.1, y is about 0 to about 0.94, z is about 0.05 to about 0.99, and at each occurrence R is independently a mercapto(C.sub.1-30)hydrocarbyl group. The composition can include (B) at least one of (B1) a polyorganosiloxane comprising at least two aliphatic unsaturated carbon-carbon bonds, and (B2) an organic molecule comprising at least two aliphatic unsaturated carbon-carbon bonds; the composition can include (C) a filler. The composition can also include (D) a photoinitiator.
LAMINATE, SURFACE-PROTECTED ARTICLE, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING LAMINATE
The invention of the present application is a laminate in which thermoplastic polyurethane is used, excellent antifouling and adhesion properties are obtained, and glue residue is minimized. The laminate is provided with a substrate film formed from thermoplastic polyurethane, and an adhesive layer formed on one surface side of the substrate film. The substrate film has a surface layer on the opposite side of the first surface, a mixture of the thermoplastic polyurethane and a curable resin composition being present in the surface layer. The content ratio of the curable resin composition is configured so as to gradually decrease from the surface of the surface layer towards the interior of the substrate film. The curable resin composition contains at least one fluorine compound selected from the group consisting of fluorosilsesquioxane and fluorosilsesquioxane polymers, and a curable resin. The adhesive layer has a surface roughness of 350-750 nm.
AQUEOUS DISPERSION OF POLYMERIC COMPOSITE MICROSPHERES
The present invention relates to a composition comprising an aqueous dispersion of polymeric composite microspheres comprising an aqueous dispersion of polymeric composite microspheres that comprise a polysiloxane and a polymer, as defined herein, and a suspension polymerization process for making the composition. The composition is useful for making defect free coatings with a relatively low coefficient of friction.
Coating composition and laminate
A coating composition contains: (A) 60 to 99% by weight of a urethane-based resin emulsion having film-forming ability in terms of a solid content ratio; and (B) 1 to 40% by weight of a silicone-acrylic graft copolymer resin emulsion having an average particle size of 180 nm or less in terms of a solid content ratio, wherein a weight ratio of a polyorganosiloxane represented by a specific chemical formula to an acrylic acid ester unit or a methacrylic acid ester unit is 30:70 to 99:1.
SILICONE WITH MODIFIED SURFACE FOR IMPROVING THE SLIDING AND FRICTIONAL PROPERTIES
A material comprising a silicone, wherein a polymer is arranged on the surface of the silicone, the polymer is characterized by a higher wear resistance than the silicone, and the polymer is attached to the surface of the silicone by non-covalent bonds.
BURNISH AND MAR RESISTANT RESIN FOR CLEAR AND PIGMENTED COATINGS
A method for forming an emulsion polymer includes a step of forming a pre-emulsion by combining a monomer composition with a siloxane-containing composition in water and polymerizing the pre-emulsion by combining the pre-emulsion with a radical initiator in a reactor to form a reaction mixture. Characteristically, the monomer composition includes one or more monomers selected from the group consisting of (meth)acrylic acid monomers, (meth)acrylic monomers, styrene monomers, vinyl acetate monomers, vinyl ester monomers, and combinations thereof. A paint composition that includes the emulsion polymer is also provided. This invention describes a method to provide excellent burnish and mar resistance while avoiding problems with film appearance that can result from siloxane addition.
