Organofunctional siloxanes, process for preparing same and their use for the treatment of fillings and surfaces
The present invention provides organofunctional siloxane coupling agents, dipodal siloxanes, siloxane block copolymers and a specific method for preparing these organofunctional siloxanes through an addition reaction of hydrido alkoxysilane and organofunctional disiloxanes to an organocyclosiloxane with a catalyst. The addition reaction of the current invention does not result in polymerization and therefore the novel siloxane couplings agents are free of cyclosiloxanes and polymeric siloxanes. This makes them apt for adhesives, coatings and sealant applications. The present invention also relates to the use of these organofunctional siloxane compounds for the treatment of fillers and surfaces.
Organofunctional siloxanes, process for preparing same and their use for the treatment of fillings and surfaces
The present invention provides organofunctional siloxane coupling agents, dipodal siloxanes, siloxane block copolymers and a specific method for preparing these organofunctional siloxanes through an addition reaction of hydrido alkoxysilane and organofunctional disiloxanes to an organocyclosiloxane with a catalyst. The addition reaction of the current invention does not result in polymerization and therefore the novel siloxane couplings agents are free of cyclosiloxanes and polymeric siloxanes. This makes them apt for adhesives, coatings and sealant applications. The present invention also relates to the use of these organofunctional siloxane compounds for the treatment of fillers and surfaces.

A dispersion contains: (a) a polyorganosiloxane with at least 90 mole % dimethyl D units and viscosity of one kPa*s or more dispersed as 0.5-20 micrometer particles; (b) a condensation product of: (i) a polysiloxane resin (Mw of 4,000-50,000) with composition: (R.sub.3SiO.sub.1/2).sub.a(SiO.sub.4/2).sub.b(ZO.sub.1/2).sub.c where a is 0.30-0.60, b is 0.40-0.70, c is 0.05-0.20, a+b is one, R is selected from hydrogen, C.sub.1−30 alkyl groups and aryl groups, and Z is selected from H, and C.sub.18 alkyls; and (ii) a polyoxyalkylene polymer (Mn of 4,500-50,000) with composition: A—O—(C.sub.2H.sub.4O).sub.e(C.sub.3H.sub.6O).sub.p—A′ where e/p is 1-9, A and A′ are selected from hydrogen, alkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl, and substituted aryl groups and at least one of A and A′ is H; (c) non-aqueous fluid carrier miscible with (a); and (d) monoterpene; the weight-ratio of (c) to (b) is 0.5-1; weight-ratio of (b) and (c) to (a) is 0.01-0.50; and the composition contains below one ppm aromatic solvent.
