MONOBENZOATE ANALOGS USEFUL AS PLASTICIZERS IN PLASTISOL COMPOSITIONS
Unique 3-PPB monobenzoate analogs useful as plasticizers in polymeric dispersions, such as plastisols, melt compounds, and adhesives among other applications. The analogs are structurally similar to and/or derived from 3-phenylpropyl benzoate and heretofore were not known for use in industrial applications, particularly not as a plasticizer in polymeric applications. Depending on the application, the advantages rendered by the use of the inventive monobenzoate analogs include, among other things, excellent solvating properties and rheology, low viscosity and significantly improved viscosity over time, comparable or improved Tg suppression, set and open times, as well as health, safety and environmental advantages, over traditional plasticizers.
Modified resins and uses thereof
Modified thermoplastic hydrocarbon thermoplastic resins are provided, as well as methods of their manufacture and uses thereof in rubber compositions. The modified thermoplastic resins are modified by decreasing the relative quantity of the dimer, trimer, tetramer, and pentamer oligomers as compared to the corresponding unmodified thermoplastic resin polymers, resulting in a product that exhibits a greater shift in the glass transition temperature of the elastomer(s) used in tire formulations. This translates to better viscoelastic predictors of tire tread performance, such as wet grip and rolling resistance. The modified thermoplastic resins impart remarkable properties on various rubber compositions, such as tires, belts, hoses, brakes, and the like. Automobile tires incorporating the modified thermoplastic resins are shown to possess excellent results in balancing the properties of rolling resistance, tire wear, snow performance, and wet braking performance.

POLYETHYLENE COPOLYMER AND TERPOLYMER HOTMELT ADHESIVE COMPOSITIONS, ARTICLES AND METHODS OF PREPARING SAME
A hotmelt adhesive composition includes a polymer produced from ethylene, one or more branched vinyl ester monomers, and optionally, vinyl acetate, and a tackifier. A method for producing the hotmelt adhesive composition includes adding a polymer produced from ethylene, one or more branched vinyl ester monomers, and optionally, vinyl acetate and a tackifier into a mixer, optionally adding wax and/or antioxidant into the mixer, and mixing the polymer and the tackifier, and the optional wax and/or antioxidant at a temperature in a range from 150° C. to 200° C. to form the hot melt adhesive composition. A method for bonding a substrate to a similar or dissimilar substrate includes applying the hotmelt adhesive composition to at least one substrate; and bonding the substrate and the hotmelt adhesive composition together. A multi-layer article comprises at least one layer of the hotmelt adhesive compositions and one or more substrate layers.
