A containment for crude oil that inhibits paraffin deposition thereon is described. One to twenty coatings of a composition including a polyacrylate are applied to a crude oil contact surface of a crude oil containment; the polyacrylate includes at least about 50 mole % acrylic acid residues or the conjugate base thereof. The coating compositions are suitably delivered from a water dispersion, solution, or emulsion and dried before applying a subsequent coating. Each of the one to twenty coatings are formed from the same or from different polyacrylate coating compositions. The coated containment surfaces inhibit deposition of at least 10 wt % and as much as 90 wt % of paraffin solids from a crude oil compared to the same crude oil contact in the absence of the one to twenty coatings. The coatings inhibit paraffin deposition at temperatures between about 60° C. and −40° C.

Disclosed herein are methods for determining if a scavenging chemical mitigator, or its reaction or degradation product, will polymerized during or after mitigation treatments. This information allows for the optimization of mitigation treatments that pre-emptively control or prevent polymer formation. Such pre-emption measures reduce the cost and time related to remedial actions to treat polymer-fouled equipment.

Branched polyethyleneimine (B-PE) as oilfield metal naphthenate inhibitors

Relatively low molecular weight, branched polyethyleneimine (B-PE), a specific class of polyamine, has been shown to be effective at inhibiting the formation metal naphthenate precipitate (MNP) in systems and fluids that include an organic phase and an aqueous phase where the system or fluid further contains metal ions and tetra acid, and in particular the addition of low molecular weight, B-PE molecules prevents the formation of metal naphthenate precipitates/deposits in the fluids. Inhibition of alkali earth metal naphthenates (e.g. calcium naphthenate) and alkali metal naphthenates (e.g. sodium naphthenate) are particular non-limiting embodiments.
