The polarizing plate includes: a polarizer and a first protective layer stacked on one surface of the polarizer via a bonding layer, wherein the bonding layer is formed of a bonding layer composition including an epoxy compound and a photocationic initiator, and the polarizing plate has a chrominance variation ΔE of 5.2 or less, as calculated by Equation 1.

Provided are a polarizing plate including a polarizing layer containing a lyotropic liquid crystal compound and capable of achieving uniform polarization properties over a large area, and a display device equipped with the polarizing plate. The polarizing plate includes: an alignment film; and a polarizing layer on the alignment film. The alignment film contains an alignment film polymer, has a static contact angle with water of 60° or smaller, and has a slow axis. The polarizing layer contains a lyotropic liquid crystal compound and has an absorption axis parallel to the above slow axis. The lyotropic liquid crystal compound is preferably dichroic.

Laminate

An object of the present invention is to provide a laminate in which the coloring of reflected light is reduced. The laminate includes an optical film having a light absorption anisotropic film formed using a composition including a dichroic substance and having a transmittance of more than 50%, a λ/4 plate, and a metal electrode in this order, in which in a case where a degree (%) of polarization at a wavelength of λ of the optical film is defined as P(λ) and a reflectance (%) at the wavelength of λ of the metal electrode is defined as R(λ), a ratio of a minimum value of R/P to a maximum value of R/P at wavelengths of 450 nm, 550 nm, and 650 nm is more than 85%.

A polymerizable liquid crystal composition having excellent solubility, used for formation of an optically anisotropic film having excellent durability. The polymerizable liquid crystal composition contains a polymerizable liquid crystal compound P1 represented by Formula (1): A-Ar-A, a polymerizable liquid crystal compound P2 represented by Formula (2): A-Ar-B, and a polymerizable liquid crystal compound P3 represented by Formula (3): B-Ar-B. In Formulae (1) and (2), A's represent predetermined side chains, all of which exhibit the same C log P value, and in Formulae (2) and (3), B's represent predetermined side chains, all of which exhibit the same C log P value. It should be noted that A and B represent side chains having C log P values different from each other, in which the C log P value of A is larger than the C log P value of B and the C log P value of at least one of A or B is 3.3 or more.

The composition of the present invention is a composition including at least a polymer liquid crystal compound, a dichroic material, and a low-molecular-weight liquid crystal compound, in which the polymer liquid crystal compound is a copolymer having a repeating unit (1) represented by Formula (1), the low-molecular-weight liquid crystal compound is a compound represented by Formula (LC), and relationships represented by Expressions |log P(SP1)−log P(SPL1)|≤2.0 (11), |log P(MG1)−log P(SP1)|≥4.5 (12), and |log P(ML)−log P(SPL1)|≥4.0 (13) are satisfied.
