SYSTEMS AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCTION OF HIGH-CARBON BIOGENIC REAGENTS

This invention provides processes and systems for converting biomass into high carbon biogenic reagents that are suitable for a variety of commercial applications. Some embodiments employ pyrolysis in the presence of an inert gas to generate hot pyrolyzed solids, condensable vapors, and non-condensable gases, followed by separation of vapors and gases, and cooling of the hot pyrolyzed solids in the presence of the inert gas. Additives may be introduced during processing or combined with the reagent, or both. The biogenic reagent may include at least 70 wt %, 80 wt %, 90 wt %, 95 wt %, or more total carbon on a dry basis. The biogenic reagent may have an energy content of at least 12,000 Btu/lb, 13,000 Btu/lb, 14,000 Btu/lb, or 14,500 Btu/lb on a dry basis. The biogenic reagent may be formed into fine powders, or structural objects.

Coke with additives

Coke including additives that are accumulated at the yield points or in the regions surrounded by the yield points. For homogeneous distribution, the additives are continuously dosed into the delayed coker during the filling time. The dosing can be carried out by powdery blowing with an inert gas (nitrogen) or also distributed in a slurry consisting of the reaction components and a partial flow of the coker feed (vacuum resid, pytar, decant oil or coal-tar distillates). According to an advantageous form of embodiment, the additives may optionally have a diameter of between 0.05 mm and 5 mm, preferably between 1 mm and 3 mm. Advantageously, the additives can be selected from at least one of acetylene coke, fluid coke, flexi coke, shot coke, carbon black, non-graphitisable carbons (chars), non-graphitic anthracite, silicon carbide, titanium carbide, titanium diboride or mixtures thereof.

Efficient recovery of valuable components from biomass catalytic pyrolysis effluent

A process comprising separating from a biomass catalytic pyrolysis process effluent, a naphthalene-rich oil phase, a phenolic oil and a vapor phase containing off gas, water and BTX, whereby said vapor phase can be condensed to separate liquid water and liquid hydrocarbons from gaseous off gas and BTX.

A process for preparing a recycle content (C.sub.4)alkanoic acid (i.e., butyric acid and/or isobutyric acid) derived from a recycle propylene composition, a recycle (C.sub.4)alkanal are provided.

CRACKING C8+ FRACTION OF PYOIL

A hydrocarbon cracker stream is combined with recycle content pyrolysis oil to form a combined cracker stream and the combined cracker stream is cracked in a cracker furnace to provide an olefin-containing effluent. The r-pyoil can be fed to the cracker feed. Alternatively, the r-pyoil with a predominantly c8+ fraction can be fed to the cracker feed. The furnace can be a gas fed furnace, or split cracker furnace.

ADDITIVE FOR PREVENTING FOULING OF THERMAL CRACKER FURNACE

The furnace of a delayed coking unit which is utilized for heating residue feeds to high temperatures can suffer from decrease in run length and fouling caused by caustic carryover from the upstream desalter unit. An antifoulant additive for preventing caustic induced fouling of thermal cracker furnace tubes is disclosed. The described antifoulant additive acts by converting the inorganic caustic compound such as NaOH to naphthenate salt of the metal as well as by reducing the fouling tendency of the whole feedstock, thereby making it ineffective in causing coking reaction. The additive finds application in thermal residue upgradation furnaces such as delayed coking unit, visbreaker, etc.

The present application discloses a recycle content cracked effluent composition having a certain compositional profile produced by cracking a cracker feed comprising a recycle content pyrolysis oil composition, and methods of producing the recycle content cracked effluent composition.

Systems and methods for processing waste plastics are provided. One method includes mixing, heating and compacting a supply of the waste plastic based feedstock having an appreciable amount of halide compounds or heteroatoms from one or more sources of contamination; providing an amendment comprising alkaline earth oxides and/or hydroxides, oxides of iron, and/or oxides of aluminum to be mixed, heated and compacted with the waste plastic based feedstock to form a densified melt of plastic material including the amendment; and pyrolyzing the densified melt of plastic material including the amendment within a pyrolysis reactor. Another method includes pyrolyzing a supply of the waste plastic feedstock within a pyrolysis reactor to generate a hydrocarbon gas stream and a solids residue stream; condensing out a tars product from the hydrocarbon gas stream output from the pyrolysis reactor with a quenching apparatus; and pyrolyzing the tars product within a supplemental pyrolysis reactor.
