METHOD FOR MAKING LIQUID HYDROCARBONS
20240043752 · 2024-02-08 ·

A Fischer-Tropsch (FT) process with a hybrid membrane/PSA configuration provides high component recoveries from FT off gas with minimum power consumption. Synthesis gas from a synthesis gas production zone is reacted in an FT reaction zone forming a liquid stream and an off gas stream. The off gas from the FT reaction zone, which contains hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and methane reactants, is recycled to the synthesis gas production zone. A purge stream from the recycle loop is sent to a membrane separation unit where it is separated into a permeate stream and a residue stream. The residue stream is separated in a pressure swing adsorption (PSA) unit into a fuel gas stream and a second stream. The second stream can be compressed and recycled to the synthesis gas production zone.

The present invention describes improved processes for the synthesis of high value chemical products from low carbon syngas. In one aspect, a process for the production of chemicals is provided. The process comprises the following: feeding a feedstock comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide to a liquid fuel production reactor, wherein the liquid fuel production reactor comprises a catalyst, thereby producing a product, wherein the product comprises a liquid phase and a solid phase, and wherein the liquid phase comprises C5-C23 hydrocarbons and oxygenated hydrocarbons, and wherein the solid-phase comprises C24-C45 aliphatic hydrocarbons, and wherein the liquid phase is between 51 percent by volume and 99 percent by volume of the product.

METHOD OF PRODUCING LIQUID FUEL FROM CARBONACEOUS FEEDSTOCK THROUGH GASIFICATION AND RECYCLING OF DOWNSTREAM PRODUCTS

A feedstock delivery system transfers a carbonaceous material, such as municipal solid waste, into a product gas generation system. The feedstock delivery system includes a splitter for splitting bulk carbonaceous material into a plurality of carbonaceous material streams. Each stream is processed using a weighing system for gauging the quantity of carbonaceous material, a densification system for forming plugs of carbonaceous material, a de-densification system for breaking up the plugs of carbonaceous material, and a gas and carbonaceous material mixing system for forming a carbonaceous material and gas mixture. A pressure of the mixing gas is reduced prior to mixing with the carbonaceous material, and the carbonaceous material to gas weight ratio is monitored. A transport assembly conveys the carbonaceous material and gas mixture to a first reactor where at least the carbonaceous material within the mixture is subject to thermochemical reactions to form the product gas.

A method and system for producing a synthesis gas for use in the production of methanol, or a hydrocarbon product such as a synthetic fuel, comprising the steps of: providing a carbon dioxide-rich stream and passing it through an electrolysis unit for producing a feed stream comprising CO and CO.sub.2; providing a water feedstock and passing it through an electrolysis unit for producing a feed stream comprising H.sub.2; combining said feed stream comprising CO and CO.sub.2 and said feed stream comprising H.sub.2 into said synthesis gas; and converting said synthesis gas into said methanol or said hydrocarbon product.

Production of sustainable aviation fuel from CO.SUB.2 .and low-carbon hydrogen

A process for the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) with low carbon intensity. The jet fuel is produced from the reaction of hydrogen from the electrolysis of water with captured carbon dioxide. The hydrogen and carbon dioxide are reacted to product a stream comprising carbon monoxide. Hydrogen and carbon monoxide are reacted to produce n-alkanes. Alkanes are hydroisomerized to produce sustainable aviation fuel with low carbon intensity.

PROCESS AND PLANT FOR PRODUCING E-FUELS

Process and plant for producing a hydrocarbon product boiling in the gasoline boiling range, comprising: upgrading a naphtha containing stream derived from Fischer-Tropsch (FT) synthesis by passing the naphtha containing stream through an aromatization stage comprising contacting the naphtha containing stream with an aluminosilicate zeolite, thereby producing said hydrocarbon product boiling in the gasoline boiling range, and a separate light hydrocarbon gas stream, such as liquid petroleum gas (LPG) stream. The synthesis gas for the FT-synthesis is produced by electrically heated reverse water gas shift (e-RWGS) of a feedstock comprising CO.sub.2 and H.sub.2.

Process control parameters for production of hydrogen and FT products by steam/CO.sub.2 reforming include controlling steam reformer temperature, addition of steam, CO and optionally, biogas. Optimization of parameters have resulted in increased production of H.sub.2, removal of sulfur and halogen contaminants, and control of the H.sub.2/CO ratio for efficient generation of Fischer-Tropsch products.

DEVICES AND METHODS FOR A PYROLYSIS AND GASIFICATION SYSTEM FOR BIOMASS FEEDSTOCK

A pyrolysis and gasification system produce a synthesis gas and bio-char from a biomass feedstock. The system includes a feed hopper that has a flow measurement device. The system also includes a reactor that is operable in a gasification mode or a pyrolysis mode. The reactor is configured to receive the biomass feedstock from the feed hopper. The reactor is operable to provide heat to the biomass feedstock from the feed hopper to produce the synthesis gas and bio-char. The system also includes a cyclone assembly. The produced synthesis gas including the bio-char is fed to the cyclone assembly. The cyclone assembly removes a portion of the bio-char from the synthesis gas.
