Use of sulfonium salts as hydrogen sulfide inhibitors
10301553 · 2019-05-28 · ·

Uses of aryl sulfonium salts for lowering sulfide concentrations and for preventing growth of microbes in a water injection system, a hydrocarbon extraction system, or a hydrocarbon production system are disclosed. Treating oilfield injection and produced fluids containing high levels of microbes with aryl sulfonium salts can significantly decrease the amount of hydrogen sulfide produced, which can be used to measure sulfidogenesis. The treatment can also decrease the number of active microbes in the injection and produced fluids. Thus, these aryl sulfonium salts can be effectively used as inhibitors of hydrogen sulfide generation and as biocides in oilfield fluids.

APPLICATION OF FORMALDEHYDE SULFOXYLATES FOR SCAVENGING H2S

A scavenger comprising a formaldehyde sulfoxylate may be used to scavenge hydrogen sulfide (H.sub.2S) from systems that are brine or mixed production. Suitable formaldehyde sulfoxylates include, but are not necessarily limited to, sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate, zinc formaldehyde sulfoxylate, and calcium formaldehyde sulfoxylate, potassium formaldehyde sulfoxylate, magnesium formaldehyde sulfoxylate, iron formaldehyde sulfoxylate, copper formaldehyde sulfoxylate, alkene aldehyde sulfoxylates, and combinations thereof.

The present invention relates to a scavenging composition capable of scavenging a wide variety of sulfur-bearing compounds, such as hydrogen sulfide and method of use thereof. Said scavenging composition comprises an aqueous solution of a triazine compound, an anionic surfactant, and optionally an alcohol and/or glycol ether solution. The composition may be used in any kind of sulfide-scavenging operation and is particularly useful for sulfide scavenging in the context of sulfide removal from oil or gas streams and in the treatment of oil or gas transmission lines or equipment.

Method for the dissolution of amorphous dithiazines
12129437 · 2024-10-29 · ·

The invention relates to the dissolution of amorphous dithiazine (a-DTZ) or polythioformaldehyde or other polymeric by-products of the treatment of hydrocarbon products (a-DZT) to remove them from surfaces. These are solids that build up on surfaces of processing plant and are resistant to most chemical treatment. The treatment requires treating the surface with an effective amount of a mercaptan or an amine. Surfactants to keep the dissolved a-DTZ or other components from redepositing elsewhere are also described, as is the use of hydrogen sulfide to add in removal by mercaptans.
