Posturized Pocketed Spring Comfort Layer
20210045539 · 2021-02-18 ·

A posturized comfort layer for a bedding or seating product has different sections of different firmness due to different mini coil springs within the sections. The springs may be individually pocketed between two sheets of non-woven polypropylene fabric joined with circular seams or rectangular seams. Each circular seam joins opposed pieces of fabric around one of the mini coil springs with curved segments. Alternatively, rectangular seams join opposed pieces of fabric around each of the mini coil springs with linear segments. Regardless of the shape of the seams, the different firmness of the different sections of the comfort layer may be due to the mini-coil springs contained in the pockets.

A cushioned load bearing seating surface includes a suspension layer, a membrane and a load distribution layer. The membrane is positioned between the suspension layer and the load distribution layer. The membrane includes a base and a plurality of molded, oriented, piston-like projections extending from the base. The membrane defines intermediate portions between each projection and the base that extend in a direction opposite the projections. The projections are compressible from a first state to a compressed state under load and return to the first state upon removing the load. The intermediate portions flex to accommodate at least a portion of the projections as the projections are compressed. A molded, piston pixelated membrane and a method for making the membrane are disclosed.

Cushion assembly with elastomeric lattice insert

A cushion assembly such as an aircraft passenger seat cushion assembly including a solid foam component and an elastomeric lattice insert disposed in a void in the solid foam component, the elastomeric lattice insert having a compression profile that mimics a predetermined compression profile of a solid foam. The elastomeric lattice insert including repeating like cuboid structures such as interconnected repeating face-centered cube structures, interconnected repeating body-centered cube structures, or interconnected repeating kagome structures. The elastomeric lattice insert may be in thermal communication with an air conditioning system for delivering conditioned air through the elastomeric lattice insert.

A pocketed spring assembly comprises a plurality of parallel strings of springs, each string joined to at least one adjacent string, each string comprising one piece of fabric folded into first and second opposed plies of fabric. Outer pockets are formed along each string by transverse seams joining the first and second plies. One pocketed spring and at least cushion pad is positioned in each outer pocket. The cushion pad may be individually pocketed. An upper end of each transverse seam may be below an upper surface of the string to partially separate adjacent outer pockets within a string.

Furniture is assembled from elastic modules enabling rapid and convenient assembly and disassembly. The elastic module has a spring, an outer covering layer, and an end member attached to an end face of the outer covering layer. A mattress includes a plurality of individual spring assemblies (145), with each spring assembly including at least one spring (134) and a spring cap (144, 150, 161, 164, 171, 184, 194, 204). Each spring cap has at least one first attachment fitting (168, 178, 174, 186, 196) and at least one second attachment fitting (169, 180, 176, 187) with each first attachment fitting engageable into or onto and removable from a second attachment fitting of an adjoining spring cap. The spring assemblies are attached to each other via the first and second attachment fittings, forming the individual spring assemblies into a spring core. A top pad is positioned on top of the spring core. The mattress can be quickly dis-assembled and stored in a compact space by removing the top pad and separating the spring assemblies from each other.
