Integrated hydrotreating and slurry hydrocracking process
09567536 · 2017-02-14 · ·

An integrated slurry hydrocracking process and apparatus are described. The process includes introducing heavy residual hydrocarbon oil and a hydrogen stream into a slurry hydrocracking zone. The hydrocarbon feed is cracked to form a slurry hydrocracking effluent. At least a portion of the shiny hydrocracking effluent is introduced to a distillate hydrotreater along with make-up hydrogen. The slurry hydrocracking effluent is hydrotreated to form a hydrotreated effluent. The hydrotreated effluent is separated into a liquid stream and a gas stream containing hydrogen. The gas stream containing the hydrogen is recycled to the slurry hydrocracking zone forming the hydrogen stream introduced into the slurry hydrocracking zone.

SLURRY HYDROCRACKING OF RENEWABLE FEEDSTOCKS

The present disclosure provides a process for upgrading solid biomass feedstocks into more useable products. The process includes introducing a solid biomass feedstock, a liquid carrier, a slurry hydrocracking catalyst to a slurry hydrocracking zone in the presence of hydrogen and under slurry hydrocracking conditions to produce a slurry hydrocracking effluent comprising lighter hydrocarbonaceous products; wherein the liquid carrier is a hydrocracking recycle stream taken only from the slurry hydrocracking effluent; wherein the solid biomass feedstock and liquid carrier are combined upstream of the slurry hydrocracking zone to form a combined feed; the combined feed subsequently being introduced to the slurry hydrocracking zone.

PROCESS FOR CONVERSION OF HYDROCRACKED PITCH

The present disclosure relates to a process for conversion of hydrocracked pitch into distillates in a slurry hydro-conversion reactor in presence of hydrogen gas with recycling of a hydrocracked pitch residue to achieve improved overall conversion and minimize fresh addition of catalyst. The slurry hydro-conversion of hydrocracked vacuum residue along with recycle of hydrocracked pitch residue (4d) provides improved overall conversion of >97% with very less yield of <3 wt. % pitch (>540 C.) along with distillates (C6+370 C.) in a yield of 55 wt. % and VGO (370-540 C.) in a yield of 28.3 wt. %. The recycling of hydrocracked pitch residue back to slurry hydro-conversion reactor facilitates the minimization of the addition of fresh catalyst to the reactor section.
