20230165375 · 2023-06-01 ·

A seat back for an office chair includes a knit material for extending over a structural frame. The knit material can be formed in a single knitting operation to include cushioning characteristics that vary across different regions of the knit material. The knit material may be a weft knit material having a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer, wherein the third layer is inlayed between the first and second layers and the inlay material is different from at least the first and second layers and provides a degree of cushioning between the first and second layers. The first and second layers are knit according to a predetermined pattern, the predetermined pattern determining crossing lines where the first and second layers cross one another and fix the third layer in position with respect to the first and second layers. The predetermined pattern is differentiated between regions of the back support, such that a first region of the back support has a higher density of crossing lines than a second region of the back support, the first region providing a different degree of cushioning than the second region.

COMPLIANT BACKREST

A backrest includes a primary frame having a pair of laterally spaced first uprights defining a first opening therebetween, a first front surface and a first rear surface. A secondary frame includes a pair of laterally spaced second uprights defining a second opening therebetween, a second rear surface facing the first front surface of the primary frame and a second front surface, wherein the secondary frame is coupled to the primary frame, and wherein at least portions of the first and second openings are aligned. A flexible shell overlies and is coupled to the second front surface of the secondary frame. The flexible shell includes a third rear surface visible through the aligned portions of the first and second openings.

FURNITURE, LOAD SUPPORT MEMBER FOR CHAIR, AND CHAIR

Furniture and a chair include a shielding piece (7b5) which is provided in an operation plate (7b2) or a flange (7a5) and closes a gap generated by the operation plate (7b2) and the flange (7a5) when the operation plate (7b2) has an operation posture. In addition, a chair includes a load support member for a chair, the load support member for a chair includes a frame member which includes a pair of rod members (19) and an extension material (22) which is formed in a bag shape and covers the frame member, a support portion (26) is provided on each of inner surfaces facing each other in the pair of rod members (19), and an interior material (21) having a repulsive force with respect to a load in a surface perpendicular direction is bridged between the pair of rod members (19) by being supported by the support portion (26).

Seat

A seat includes a pivotally movable bottom, a pivotally movable backrest independent from the bottom, a first supporter suspending and supporting a front side of the bottom, and a second supporter suspending a rear side of the bottom from a side behind the backrest section, and pivotally movably supporting the bottom together with the first supporter. According to the seat, the front side and the rear side of the bottom are suspended and supported. Thus, compared to a seat in which a front side of a bottom is supported in a cantilever manner, the seat is capable of ensuring bearing capacity for a seating load. The rear side of the bottom is suspended and supported from a side behind the backrest section. Accordingly, a support structure around the bottom including the front side of the bottom can be downsized.
