Apparatus and process for separating gases from catalyst and revamp
In an FCC apparatus and process structured packing should be located at the very top of the stripping section in an upper region. The lower region below the structural packing may be equipped with fluidization equipment such as stripping media distributors and one or more gratings. This arrangement enables stripping of entrained hydrocarbons off the incoming catalyst immediately upon entry into the stripping section allowing the entrained hydrocarbon to exit the stripping section with minimized residence time to minimize post-riser cracking. Revamp of stripping sections with tall stripping sections should conducted in this way to improve performance and reduce down-time for equipment installation.
Systems and processes integrating hydroprocessing and an aromatics recovery complex for separating and upgrading hydrocarbons
A process for separating and upgrading a hydrocarbon feed includes passing the hydrocarbon feed to a distillation unit to separate it into at least a naphtha stream and a residue, passing the naphtha stream to a NHT that hydrotreats the naphtha stream to produce a hydrotreated naphtha, passing the hydrotreated naphtha to a NREF that reforms the hydrotreated naphtha to produce a reformate, passing the reformate to an ARC that processes the reformate to produce at least one aromatic product effluent and an aromatic bottoms stream, passing at least a portion of the residue to a residue hydroprocessing unit that hydroprocesses the portion of the residue to produce a hydroprocessed effluent, and passing a portion of the aromatic bottoms stream to the residue hydroprocessing unit to increase the solubility of the asphaltene compounds and reduce sedimentation. Systems for conducting the process are also disclosed.
Catalytic upgrading of heavy oil with supercritical water
Embodiments of the disclosure provide a method and system for upgrading heavy hydrocarbons. A heavy hydrocarbon feed and a non-saline water feed are introduced to a first stage reactor. The first stage reactor is operated under supercritical water conditions to produce an effluent stream. The effluent stream and a saline water feed are combined to produce a mixed stream, where the saline water feed includes an alkali or alkaline earth metal compound. The mixed stream is introduced to a second stage reactor. The second stage reactor is operated under supercritical water conditions to produce a product stream including upgrading hydrocarbons. The second stage reactor is operated at a temperature less than that of the first stage reactor.
METHOD FOR UPGRADING HEAVY OIL BY PYROLYSIS USING BYPRODUCTS OF COKE PRODUCTION
The present invention relates to a method for upgrading heavy oil by using byproducts of coke production, and particularly provides a method for upgrading heavy oil comprising the steps of: a) mixing heavy oil with byproducts of coke production to produce a mixed liquid: and b) subjecting the mixed liquid to pyrolysis, the method allowing reduction of the amount of coke generated and thus being economical and effective.
LOW SULFUR FUEL OIL BLENDS FOR STABILITY ENHANCEMENT AND ASSOCIATED METHODS
Fuel oil compositions, and methods for blending such fuel oil compositions, to enhance initial compatibility and longer term stability when such fuel oil compositions are blended to meet IMO 2020 low sulfur fuel oil requirements (ISO 8217). In one or more embodiments, asphaltenic resid base stocks are blended with high aromatic slurry oil to facilitate initial compatibility such that low sulfur cutter stocks, e.g., vacuum gas oil and/or cycle oil, may be further blended therein to cut sulfur content while maintaining longer term stability. These fuel oil compositions are economically advantageous when used as marine low sulfur fuel oils because greater concentrations of high viscosity resids are present in the final blend.

A method of mitigating fouling in a delayed coking unit heater may include forming a plastic mixture including a plastic material and a carrier. The plastic mixture may be combined with a coker feedstock upstream of a coke drum.
Environment-friendly marine fuel
For the shipping industry, these fuels provide solutions to long outstanding technical problems that heretofore hindered supply of low sulfur marine fuels in quantities needed to meet worldwide sulfur reduction goals. When ships on the open seas burn cheap low grade heavy bunker oils high in sulfur, nitrogen and metals, the SOx, NOx, and metal oxides go to the environment. This invention converts essentially all of each barrel of crude feed to a single ultraclean fuel versus conventional refining where crude feed is cut into many pieces, and each piece is sent down a separate market path meeting various different product specifications. When in port, ships can generate and sell electricity to land based electrical grids to offset fuel cost in an environment-friendly manner.
High performance process oil
Naphthenic process oils are made by blending one or more naphthenic vacuum gas oils in one or more viscosity ranges with a high C.sub.A content ethylene cracker bottoms, slurry oil, heavy cycle oil or light cycle oil feedstock to provide at least one blended oil, and hydrotreating the at least one blended oil to provide an enhanced C.sub.A content naphthenic process oil. The order of the vacuum distillation and blending steps may be reversed.

A multi-stage process for reducing the environmental contaminants in an ISO8217 compliant Feedstock Heavy Marine Fuel Oil involving a core desulfurizing process and a Detrimental Solids removal unit as either a pre-treating step or post-treating step to the core process. The Product Heavy Marine Fuel Oil complies with ISO 8217 for residual marine fuel oils and has a sulfur level has a maximum sulfur content (ISO 14596 or ISO 8754) between the range of 0.05 mass % to 1.0 mass and a Detrimental Solids content less than 60 mg/kg. A process plant for conducting the process is also disclosed.
