System and Method for Monitoring a Reforming Catalyst
A method of monitoring catalytic performance of a catalyst used in a reforming process, comprising a) collecting gaseous component data from the reforming process; b) calculating a gaseous component ratio from the gaseous component data; and c) utilizing the gaseous component ratio to estimate an amount of catalytic activity remaining in the catalyst used in the reforming process, a number of days on stream remaining for the catalyst used in the reforming process, or both.
Start-up Procedure for a Fischer-Tropsch Process
The present invention generally relates to a Fischer-Tropsch process, in particular a Fischer-Tropsch process for converting a feed comprising a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide gases, preferably in the form of a synthesis gas mixture, to hydrocarbons by contacting a cobalt-containing Fischer-Tropsch synthesis catalyst with a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide in a reactor at a pressure of 4.0 MPa absolute or greater, wherein the process is initiated by a start-up procedure comprising the steps of: i) providing a feed comprising a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide gases, preferably in the form of a synthesis gas mixture, to a reactor containing a cobalt-containing Fischer-Tropsch synthesis catalyst, wherein the pressure inside the reactor is 3.5 MPa absolute or below; and ii) maintaining the feed to the reactor, removing a product stream comprising hydrocarbons and maintaining the pressure inside the reactor at 3.5 MPa absolute or below for at least 15 hours, preferably for at least 50 hours.
SYNTHESIS GAS CONVERSION PROCESS
The disclosed invention relates to a method for restarting a synthesis gas conversion process which has stopped. The synthesis gas conversion process may be conducted in a conventional reactor or a microchannel reactor. The synthesis gas conversion process may comprise a process for converting synthesis gas to methane, methanol or dimethyl ether. The synthesis gas conversion process may be a Fischer-Tropsch process.

Use of Aromax® Catalyst in Sulfur Converter Absorber and Advantages Related Thereto
A process for operating a reforming system by operating a reforming section containing a plurality of reactors, wherein each of the plurality of reactors containing a reforming catalyst capable of catalyzing the conversion of at least a portion of the hydrocarbons in a treated hydrocarbon stream into a reactor effluent comprising aromatic hydrocarbons, and operating a sulfur guard bed (SGB) to remove sulfur and sulfur-containing hydrocarbons from a hydrocarbon feed to provide the treated hydrocarbon stream, where the SGB contains at least a layer of a SGB catalyst comprising the same catalyst as the reforming catalyst, and where each reactor of the plurality of reactors within the reforming section may be operated at a higher operating temperature than an operating temperature of the SGB. A system for carrying out the process is also provided.

ODH COMPLEX WITH ON-LINE MIXER UNIT AND FEED LINE CLEANING
Oxidative dehydrogenation is an alternative to the energy extensive steam cracking process presently used for the production of olefins from paraffins. Various embodiments of an oxidative dehydrogenation chemical complex designed to allow removal of sulfur containing contaminants that collect in the gas mixer unit and in the feed lines leading to the ODH reactor are disclosed herein.
PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR FLUIDIZING A CATALYST BED
A process and apparatus is disclosed for gradually starting fluidization in a bed of particulate from the top down so as to avoid thrusting the entire mass of particulates upwardly in the bed at the same time which may damage internals in the bed. The particulate bed may comprise a catalyst cooler for an FCC unit containing internals such as cooling, fluidization and support equipment.
Safe shutdown for a Fischer Tropsch reactor
A process to safely shutdown a Fischer Tropsch reactor is provided. The process can be used for a routine shutdown but is specifically designed for emergency shutdowns such as during a thermal excursion or power failure or equipment failure.
Start-up method for contacting a feed stream with fluidized catalyst
A start-up method for contacting a feed stream with fluidized catalyst is disclosed. The start-up method comprises reacting a feed stream over a catalyst to produce a gas stream and spent catalyst. The gas stream is separated from the spent catalyst. The separated gas stream is passed to a compressor. The operating condition associated with the compressor is measured. Based on the measured operating condition associated with the compressor, one or both of a supplemental hydrocarbon stream and a supplemental hydrogen gas stream is provided to the compressor to meet a predetermined operating condition associated with the compressor.
