BASE OIL PRODUCTION USING UNCONVERTED OIL

A method of producing a base oil product by hydroprocessing unconverted oil from a hydrocracker in an unconverted oil upgrade reactor to produce upgraded unconverted oil and dewaxing the upgraded unconverted oil to produce the base oil product.

Multiple preflash and exchanger (MPEX) network system for crude and vacuum units

Plants and methods are presented for crude feed pre-processing before feeding the crude feed into a crude unit or vacuum unit. Pre-processing is preferably achieved with a combination of a preflash drum and a preflash column that allows for high-temperature treatment of the liquids and separate vapor phase handling, which advantageously enables retrofitting existing plants to accommodate lighter crude feeds.

A process for the removal of residual sulfur compounds from rich liquid caustic is disclosed where a single column containing two reaction zones catalytically oxidizes mercaptans to disulfide oils. The second reaction zone utilizes a bundle of vertical hanging fibers and is maintained as a gas continuous phase comprising from about 20% to about 100% by volume vapor. This process is especially useful as part of a hydrocarbon desulfurization process flow scheme.

COMPLEX COMPRISING OXIDATIVE DEHYDROGENATION UNIT

Oxidative dehydrogenation of paraffins to olefins provides a lower energy route to produce olefins. Oxidative dehydrogenation processes may be integrated with a number of processes in a chemical plant such as polymerization processes, manufacture of glycols, and carboxylic acids and esters. Additionally, oxidative dehydrogenation processes can be integrated with the back end separation process of a conventional steam cracker to increase capacity at reduced cost.

RECOVERY AND RE-USE OF WASTE ENERGY IN INDUSTRIAL FACILITIES

Configurations and related processing schemes of specific inter-plants and hybrid, intra- and inter-plants waste heat recovery schemes for thermal energy consumption reduction in integrated refining-petrochemical facilities synthesized for grassroots medium grade crude oil semi-conversion refineries to increase energy efficiency from specific portions of low grade waste heat sources are described. Configurations and related processing schemes of specific inter-plants and hybrid, intra- and inter-plants waste heat recovery schemes for thermal energy consumption reduction in integrated refining-petrochemical facilities synthesized for integrated medium grade crude oil semi-conversion refineries and aromatics complex for increasing energy efficiency from specific portions of low grade waste sources are also described.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR SUPPLYING HYDROGEN TO A HYDROCATALYTIC REACTION

Systems and methods involving hydrocatalytic reactions that use molecular hydrogen obtained from a biogas generated from at least a portion of the hydrocatalytic reaction product. Hydrocatalytic reactions can require significant quantities of molecular hydrogen, particularly if the molecular hydrogen is being introduced under dynamic flow conditions. The present disclosure provides systems and methods that can allow for reducing the carbon footprint of the fuels formed from the hydrocatalytic reaction because at least a portion of the hydrogen used in the hydrocatalytic reaction has low carbon footprint. A fuel with low carbon footprint can qualify for certain governmental status that provides certain benefits.

Processes for converting existing refinery units and equipment to enable processing of renewable triglyceride feedstock to provide hydrocarbon fuels. Originally, the existing refinery units may have bene configured as hydrotreating, hydrocracking, fixed bed reforming, or isomerization units for a petroleum based feedstock. Hydrogen from a second reaction zone may be provide to the first reaction zone, without or without the use of a compressor.

Systems and methods for renewable fuel

The present application generally relates to the introduction of a renewable fuel oil as a feedstock into refinery systems or field upgrading equipment. For example, the present application is directed to methods of introducing a liquid thermally produced from biomass into a petroleum conversion unit; for example, a refinery fluid catalytic cracker (FCC), a coker, a field upgrader system, a hydrocracker, and/or hydrotreating unit; for co-processing with petroleum fractions, petroleum fraction reactants, and/or petroleum fraction feedstocks and the products, e.g., fuels, and uses and value of the products resulting therefrom.
