An integrated mercaptan extraction and/or sweetening and thermal oxidation and flue gas treatment process for a wide variety of sulfur, naphthenic, phenolic/cresylic contaminated waste streams is described. It provides comprehensive treatment for the safe disposal of sulfidic, naphthenic, phenolic/cresylic spent caustic streams, disulfide streams, spent air streams, spent mixed amine and caustic streams (also known as COS solvent streams) from sulfur treating processes. It allows the use of regenerated spent caustic in the sulfur oxide removal section of the thermal oxidation system reducing the need for fresh NaOH. It may also contain an integrated make-up water system. The integration allows the use of the liquefied petroleum gas or other hydrocarbon feeds to the respective extraction or sweetening process to offset external fuel gas requirements for the thermal oxidation system and for the push/pull system of the spent caustic surge drum and optional hydrocarbon surge drum.

A coke catching apparatus for use in hydrocarbon cracking to assist in the removal of coke and the prevention of coke build up in high coking hydrocarbon processing units. The apparatus includes a grid device for preventing large pieces of coke from entering the outlet of the process refining equipment while lowing small pieces of coke to pass through and be disposed of. The coke catching apparatus can be easily disassembled to be removed from the refining process equipment and cleaned.

Process and facility for producing propylene by combining propane dehydrogenation and a steam cracking method with propane recirculation into the steam cracking method

The invention relates to a process (10) for the production of propylene which comprises carrying out a process (1) for propane dehydrogenation to obtain a first component mixture (A), carrying out a further propylene production method (2) to obtain a second component mixture (B), and forming a separation product (P2) containing predominantly propane using one or more propane separation steps (S1), wherein at least part of the first component mixture (A) is supplied to the propane separation step or steps (S1). It is envisaged that the separation product (P2), which mainly contains propane, will at least partly be returned to the further propylene production method (2). A corresponding plant and a process for converting a steam cracking plant are also the subject of the invention.

METHODS AND CONFIGURATION FOR RETROFITTING NGL PLANT FOR HIGH ETHANE RECOVERY

A natural gas liquid plant is retrofitted with a bolt-on unit that includes an absorber that is coupled to an existing demethanizer by refrigeration produced at least in part by compression and expansion of the residue gas, wherein ethane recovery can be increased to at least 99% and propane recovery is at least 99%, and where a lower ethane recovery of 96% is required, the bolt-on unit does not require the absorber, which could be optimum solution for revamping an existing facility. Contemplated configurations are especially advantageous to be used as bolt-on upgrades to existing plants.
